THE CITADEL - HINTS by Jack Lockerby Zenobi Software Spectrum 48 Zuron is laying siege to the citadel. The dragon statues need to be activated. You are given a torch (horn), which can only be ignited at the everlasting flame that burns in the northern mountain range. Once lit, it will transport you back and ignite the dragons' fires. You must ignite the torch before the last wall (there are five) is breached. The King fixes a gold necklet around your neck to let you know when a wall falls. Like all of Jack's games, this is relatively complex, well-written, and a challenge to play. It uses adverbs, and frequently more than two words are needed. There is the added pressure of time constraints, so type quickly or press the "pause" button. SAVE/RESTORE are necessary functions as often you get a hint what you need when you "die" or when you examine an object. However, there are one or two times when there is no clue about what to do. Several objects are needed more than once. The backpack can hold an unlimited number of objects. However, to take everything from the backpack, you need to put everything in it first. To save your nerves because of the time pressure, I suggest to take the objects in the following order (you'll have to figure out how to get and use them. There are, of course, many steps, and some retracing of steps, in between): glass (used more than once) backpack vine lamp (used more than once) tiny key spade (used more than once) flint (used more than once) dung (used more than once) garlic vase large key sword ladder helmet (used more than once) knife water earth bracelet wand triangle hammer ring disc Additional hints: Use the sword at the lake. HELP at the bracelet HELP when you have the vase Following the hints on the sword and at the lake, use a four word phrase EXAMINE most objects EXAMINE the grass until you find something Remember the word CAREFULLY at the bridge THROW something at the suspended sword You need two objects to fix the bridge You will need to PULL HARD to get one object TURN SWORD CLOCKWISE A statue is edible (!)
