enter the garden or you will be caught and the game will end.

and kitchen, preventing you from entering. You can either WAIT 10 and
continue waiting until the body is gone or return later.
4. The bright light which emanates from the bedroom signals that it isn't
possible to enter. This will disappear later in the game.
5. When you are hit over the head and your possessions stolen when leaving
the study, they can be found later in the secret tunnel.

you drop can be found later in the secret tunnel.
7. When your possessions are stolen on entering the greenhouse they can be
found later at the dead end, west of the very low crawl.

Specific Hints

1. Scrape mortar with the knife and remove bricks to reveal a dark hole in
the cellar.
2. The container in the kitchen contains a strange white powder which will
deal with the rats. Sprinkle it but don't hang around. Return later.
3. Light can be found inside the chest, but will be stolen - there is no way
to avoid this. It can be retrieved from the plant pot. Take care not to
waste the torch however and turn it off when not in use.
4. Drop the bottle of wine and return later for a surprise.
5. Move wine rack to reveal a low crawl - make sure you have the torch
though.
6. Examine brush for oil and search weeds for tin snips. In the overgrown
garden oil and unbolt the shed door. Inside shed examine the rubbish, take
one item and return to the garden and drop it, then back inside. The door
will slam shut and you will have to exit via the roof. Use tin snips.
7. Get the slat from under the seat in the walled garden and the washing
line - cut with machete. Use the slat to prop open the door and prevent it
from swinging shut. The only item of interest in the closet is the cord,
obtained by wearing the gown. Make a rope using the cord and line.
8. The combination to the safe is in the underground room. Rip the
wallpaper in the hallway and push panel to reveal the safe. Note the
address on the personal papers.
9. To obtain the rag in Rowan Road be patient and keep trying.
10. Chop the brush in the cave with the machete then dig at the beach path
to find some money. Clean the plaque with the rag.
11. Give the rose to the lady in the Queens Arms to obtain a useful word.
In the book store the name of the book was on the plaque.
12. Don't hang around too long in the village, as you need to return before
the bridge washes out.
13. Examine the stain in the wine cellar for a ruby ring.
14. Examine the kitchen table for a match and the dresser for a needle and
thread. Repair the net and go to slimy fishpond. Skim pond with skimmer
and catch a goldfish in the net. Cut the goldfish with the knife to find a
tiny key.
15. Replace the book in the library and you hear a grinding sound in the
distance. Enter study (need torch) and you will see a secret passage. Open
desk with keys to find a brooch.
16. Cover head with the red curtain to avoid being attacked as you leave.
17. Drop the effigy - it breaks revealing an emerald ring.
18. Exchange the brooch for a hammer at the general store.
19. Light candles in the church and the Minister arrives, offering to help.
Enter the graveyard and note the reference to roses. Whisper (the word
given to you by the lady in the pub). Open the coffin with the hammer to
reveal an exit down.
20. Cover head with the curtain and drop everything, before going east to
the patio and greenhouse, where you trip and lose your possessions (had you
been carrying any). Examine pots to find sapphire ring, but a bird steals
it - there is no way to avoid this.
21. After bright light has gone, enter bedroom and balcony. Tie rope to
balcony and climb down to courtyard to get the spade. Return to bedroom and
get the flea-infested mattress from the bed.
22. Move the rock on the country road so you don't fall on it later and drop
the mattress under the tree. Climb the tree and break a branch... you fall
but land safely on the mattress.
23. Enter the church and bell tower where you will find what the bird stole.
Hit bell with the branch.
24. At the balcony note the path by the river and throw objects to pick up
later. Go to the attic and open suitcase with the tiny key. Lower ladder -
note as you go down you will lose all possessions. Get and wear all rings.
25. Return to attic and lever the window with the tyre lever. Jump from the
rooftop to the nearby wattle tree.
26. Dig for another ring. Launch the boat and use pailing from the fence to
row east to boathouse. Unlock the door with the keys. Blow the whistle to
raise the grill.
27. Continue north until you complete the game.
