THE AMULET Sentient Software Ltd. By Steven Kendall (K-Soft) Spectrum 48 HINTS This game has an interesting premise, though it suffers from too much retracing of steps (because of the randomness of your arrival in certain locations). If you arrive at a previously-visited location, just follow the route to where you found a part of the amulet and RUB AMULET. Most items to leave the locations can be found in the locations. Sometimes you may need to do this many times until you find yourself in the location you need to be. Be patient. This can get very, very tedious. Or Save/Restore, and try again. The plains are the least likely to be visited. Some puzzles tend to be illogical, such as using the ladder to cross the river. The unnecessary objects include the fruit, the shield, the sword, the bows and arrows, the spade, the hammer, the sandwich. Keep the glass key, staff, and club as you may find yourself in these location again. The ladder and rope are used twice. The club (or one weapon is necessary). Avoid the wasps and the ants, though the centipede is fair game. FIRE is the operative verb. If you find yourself with your eyes closed, WAIT (several times if needed). You need the ladder when you visit the plains, if not the first time, then the second. To give someone food, FEED . There are some dead ends; for example if you FEED FRUIT to T. Rex, you cannot get past him. When at the one location with rocks, MOVE ROCKS more than once. The other you can ignore, as well as the sand. Turn the robot off and go past (PASS ROBOT) him. Don't go to the white dome unless you have the monkey. Pretend the furry creature is a dog. Do what you would do to a friendly dog. Catching the monkey is a tricky puzzle. Make sure you have read the book first (read it again by the monkey). You need the jar, and the rope. CAPTURE MONKEY and GET MONKEY are not synonymous. Your goal is to collect parts of the broken amulet (six pieces plus the broken one). Before you are allowed to finish you must also have the valuable stone, the lifestone, and a seal of friendship.
