BOOZE UP Author Unknown Spectrum 48 Despite its title this is a good, quite challenging, well-written game though certain hints could be difficult for non-English players. The objective is to find 20 drinks in 20 bars within a specified period of time. It is not full of drinking jokes, which is refreshing. It's possible to finish the game with less than 100% if you exceed the time allotted. There are hints in each bar to tell you what to give there to get the drink. Hints: Don't drink until after you have met the gardener. After you have done so once, avoid him by going around the roundabout. Follow the bookmaker's advice and get out quickly. The maze is very, very tricky. You go up one tree and come down elsewhere. Reading the newspaper gives important hints about what objects you need. There are a few red herrings: the tea, the filthy plates, the centurion tank, the rifle, the pear, the cauliflower, the cabbage, the chastity belt, the knickers, the Chinaman's outfit. But it appears you can carry an infinite number of objects so having them may not be a problem. The bars and what to give there: Cross Keys: I think there was a British government minister by that name. Painted Lady: This one should be obvious. Green Dragon: You need to douse the flame. Blacksmith's Arms: What did James Last play? Angel: What do angels play? Fountain: How does that song go? ____Coins in the Fountain. White Hart: What did you get from the Supporter's Club? Pink Geranium: One flower for another? Baker's Arms: Something made of dough. Royal Oak: A seed of an oak. Plumber's Arms: Something to stop the leak. Bull: What colour does one wave in front of a bull? Sinclair Arms: Some computer hardware would be helpful. Duke's Head: Marion Morrison is John (the Duke) Wayne's real name. Man in the Moon: The moon is made of green ______. Anchor: When you examined the butter, did this give you a hint? Railway Inn: An object has arrival and departure times. Black Horse: Free drink after a bank deposit. Comet: Rock music would be helpful here. Sir Isaac Newton: The fruit that is often associated with Newton is needed here. Solution: You begin in your bed sitter.
