Introduction =============================================================================== Released in 1982, Adventure D: Espionage Island is the fourth in a series of eight interactive fiction adventures made by Artic Computing. This game is set on an enemy island. The aim is to explore the island to find the briefcase containing secret plans and then return to the plane to escape from the island. The game is well designed, but is quite short and easy to complete. =============================================================================== 2. Walkthrough =============================================================================== The game starts in the aircraft. GET PARACHUTE. WEAR PARACHUTE. PULL LEVER to exit the aircraft. PULL CORD on the parachute to land in a dark bundle. REMOVE PARACHUTE to see the jungle clearing. Move WEST twice to the aircraft wreckage. GET BRANCH. FEEL CORNER to feel a string. PULL STRING and some lucky beads will fall out. GET BEADS. Move EAST twice, SOUTH and EAST to the grass plain. GIVE BEADS to the woman and she will drop a knife. GET KNIFE. Move WEST, NORTH, WEST twice and SOUTH to the guarded clearing. KILL GUARD with the knife. GET GUN. GET TORCH. Move SOUTH to the guards' hut. Read graffiti to see the date 27/09. Move SOUTH to the river cove. ENTER BOAT. When asked if you want to push off, enter YES to float downstream. When asked if you want to get out, enter YES to get out at the river bank. Move EAST to the mountain shelter. GET ROPE. Move DOWN, NORTH and EAST three times to the eroded bank. DROP BRANCH to make a bridge across the crevasse. Move SOUTH and EAST to the stitched swamp. Move SOUTH, EAST, WEST and NORTH to the marsh land. Move UP to the mining ground. TIE ROPE. When asked what to, enter TO ROCK. TIE ROPE. When asked what to, enter TO TRUCK. Move UP to enter the automatic tipper truck. PUSH BUTTON to start the engine. PUSH PEDAL to pull the rock away from the tunnel entrance on the mining ground. Move DOWN and SOUTH to the rock tunnel. GET EXPLOSIVE. Move SOUTH, UP, SOUTH and WEST to the control hut. SWITCH SWITCH to turn the landing light off in the landing clearing. Move EAST to the landing clearing. REMOVE BULB from the landing light. INSERT EXPLOSIVE. When asked into what, enter INTO LIGHT. Move WEST to the control hut. SWITCH SWITCH to hear the sound of a tank moving. Move UP, SOUTH twice and DOWN to the metal platform. SHINE TORCH. When asked into what, enter INTO HOLE in the panel to make the south door open. Move SOUTH and EAST twice to the safe room. When asked if you want to enter the combination, enter YES. Remembering the graffiti from the guards' hut, enter the combination 2709 to open the safe. GET BRIEFCASE. Move SOUTH to the office. SHOOT COLONEL. OPEN CUPBOARD to see a jacket. GET JACKET. WEAR JACKET. Move WEST, SOUTH twice, EAST and UP to the helicopter. REMOVE JACKET. PUSH LEVER. Move WEST and SOUTH three times to complete the game. =============================================================================== 3. Item List =============================================================================== BRANCH Found in the aircraft wreckage. It is dropped at the eroded bank to make a bridge across the crevasse. BRIEFCASE Found in the safe in the safe room. It is needed to complete the game. COLONEL'S JACKET Found in the cupboard in the colonel's office. It is worn to trick the guard in the guard's office, and is removed before leaving in the helicopter. GUN Found after the guard has been killed in the guarded clearing. It is used to shoot the colonel in the colonel's office. KNIFE Found by giving the lucky beads to the woman at the grass plain. It is used to kill the guard in the guarded clearing. LUCKY BEADS Found by pulling the string in the aircraft wreckage. They are given to the woman at the grass plain to see the knife. MATCH Found in the jungle thicket. It is not used. PARACHUTE WITH A CORD Found in the aircraft. It is worn before leaving the aircraft. After pulling the lever, the cord is pulled to land in a dark bundle. The parachute is then removed to see the jungle clearing. PEN LIGHT TORCH Found after the guard has been killed in the guarded clearing. It is shined into the small hole in the panel on the metal platform to open the door to the main corridor. PLASTIC EXPLOSIVE Found in the rock tunnel. After the landing light has been switched off, the bulb is removed from the light in the landing clearing and the plastic explosive is inserted into the light. ROPE Found in the mountain shelter. It is tied to the rope and the truck in the mining ground. =============================================================================== 4.
