Eighth Crime, The (Eighth_Crime.txt)

THE EIGHTH CRIME

The Eighth Crime is a brief but very enjoyable game with an interesting
premise and some rather clever puzzles (and a couple of dodgy ones).
There should also be enough red herrings to get you off-track on a couple
of occasions!

You have 150 moves to complete the game, which should be more than
sufficient.

(You begin locked inside an old bedroom) BREAK CHAIR (a leg is all that's
left), GET LEG, X WINDOW, PULL BARS, FORCE BAR (using the leg, you remove
a bar), GET BAR, X FRAME (of the door – you find a key), PUSH DOOR, FORCE
DOOR (you break the door open with the bar)

The attic: N, GET STOOL, N, GET STRING, X TABLE, GET CURTAIN, D, D (into
the kitchen)

The kitchen: (your only purpose here is to find the code for the door) X
DOOR (it needs a code), GET KETTLE, X WORKTOP, GET BISCUITS, LOUN SINK
(you find a wrench – this is only for raising your score), W, LIFT LATCH
(you enter the freezer)

The freezer: HIT WALL (using the wrench, you remove a chunk of ice), GET
ICE (you put it into the kettle), X WALL, HIT PIPE (water starts gushing
out), SIT STOOL (you get yourself out of the water), WAIT (you have
escaped), BOIL KETTLE (this steams up the windows…), X WINDOW (…revealing
the door code. Weird puzzle!), TYPE 0666 (the door opens)

Escape: E, UNLOCK DOOR (into the shed), N, GET ROPE, GET SHOT, X SHOT
(used with nets), MAKE NET (from the curtain and the split shot), S, X
WELL (you remove a plank), GET PLANK, DROP PLANK (onto the log), CLIMB
WALL (you dislogde a rock which breaks the plank), GET PLANKS, X WALL
(there are two holes in it), PLACE PLANK, CLIMB WALL

The bird: X TREE (you spot a pigeon), BREAK BISCUITS, DROP BISCUITS (this
attracts the bird), THROW NET (you catch it), TIE STRING (the bird loops
the string around the tree), THROW NET, TIE ROPE, PULL STRING (you loop
the rope around the branch), CLIMB ROPE

- You have escaped, with a score of 100/100

Notes:
1. There is a bug, which can cause two birds to appear – one caught in
the net, the other sitting in the tree.
2. Ignore the plug in the sink and the noises in the attic
3. Just for kicks, the game features a hidden sub-game which will be
revealed once you've completed the main part.
4. Thanks to Geoff Wallis for assistance!
