SECRETS OF UR Bill Clews Amstrad This is a challenging game with many locations and several ways you can die. Sometimes you will need to die, before you know what to do. Careful mapping is needed. Several times you have only a limited number of moves you can make. One advantage is that you can carry more than the usual number of objects (i.e.10). At times it requires knowledge beyond what is commonly known. The ending is highly unsatisfactory: it is abrupt and inconclusive. Hints: Move quickly when the plane starts going down. Take only the one object you really need. Don't even check your inventory first. You need to return to the pilot. Several objects are needed more than once (the flask, the lens). Type INFO for a list of words. Avoid running into the gorilla until you have the necessary objects to kill it. You need to make a poisoned dart, and blow it through a pipe. Remember to return to the hut. Some locations are unmarked. At the foot of the hills, there are four places you can go to. Where it's slippery, go down again. You can't sail in the dinghy, but maybe someone else would want to trade for it? The mask, while it doesn't work, is effective in another way. You need to move the boulder. Use something you have as a tool. Termites, eat your paddle? Don't drop it there unless it is oiled. Use the matches south of the hollow to burn the vegetation. When you see the fissure, leave it for later. There are two place from which you can sail. Can't TAKE the eggs? Light the flare. You are told you have too much stuff at the fissure? Remove what you can, drop everything, STRIP, and go in. Even though it's dark, keep going east. In the crypt, walk around. You will see it is in a particular shape. When you hear a voice ask in whose name you venture here, think Christian. Keep getting captured by the guards? Create a diversion, enter the courtyard, make your way south, and TAKE off the pathway as soon as you can. When the sound fades away, explore some more. Pull the lever twice. Can't open the door after you find the mummy? Shine some sunlight on the matter with an object you have.
