There seems to be some bug here. If you go up you enter the chapel which is the location you saw on the print. If you drop the sapphire and the ruby (the bluish haze and the reddish hue you saw on the print), the sword excaliber should rise from the granite and fall to the ground. However this doesn't happen as the sword Excaliber is already in the location of the lake at the beginning of the game and you loose the ruby and sapphire by doing this which you both need for their points. So I guess you just have to skip this. Actions which are not needed to solve the game: -If you EXAMINE SHELVES in the library you find a book on photography for beginners, but you do not need it. You can OPEN BOOK and READ BOOK. -If you OPEN DOOR in the games room you can enter the cupboard.
