INCA CURSE /by Artic/ ===================== This game seems the easiest Artic's game. This game is strictly deterministic, so it is possible to give exact step by step solutions. However, you can solve this game with different scores, depending of which treasures you bring out of temple. I believe that this is a maximal score solution, but I am not absolutely sure (see open questions below)... Solution: --------- TAKE BRANCH (it is heavy with lots of leaves), REMOVE LEAVES, REDESCRIBE (the branch is now the stick), TAKE STICK, S, LOOK DOOR, BREAK LATCH, WITH STICK, DROP STICK, U, TAKE ROCK, BREAK LOCK, WITH ROCK, DROP ROCK, GO DOOR, E, E, TAKE BLANKET, E, TAKE KEY, S, TAKE MATCH, D, W, D, UNLOCK PANEL, WITH KEY, DROP KEY, W, W, N, CLIMB BOAT, W, TAKE LAMP, SMOTHER FIRE (with the blanket), LIGHT LAMP, WITH MATCH, TAKE RING, U, DROP LAMP, DROP BLANKET, E, E, S, E, TAKE CHISEL, REMOVE RING (from the flint), WITH CHISEL, DROP CHISEL, E, D, D, TAKE BLUE STONE, U, W, TAKE ROPE, D, GO OPENING, TAKE RED STONE, W, D (you can not pass downwards without magic ring and blue stone), W (you can not pass through secret passage without red stone), TAKE EAGLE, DROP RED STONE, D, TAKE COINS, S, E, S, N, E, W, TAKE BRUSH, E, S, W, E, N, N, U, CLIMB UP, WITH ROPE, DROP EAGLE, DROP COINS, DROP BRUSH, D, D, S, TAKE CHANDALIERS, S, S, S, N, W, E, S, TAKE STATUE, D, TAKE BOWL, U, N, W, N, S, W, E, N, N, U, CLIMB UP, WITH ROPE, DROP ROPE, DROP BLUE STONE, DROP RING, TAKE EAGLE, TAKE COINS, TAKE BRUSH, E, U, E, U, N, W, W, W, N, N, N (you have successfully completed this adventure with a score of 4250). Hints: ------ - To save the game, type QUIT (unusually), then YES. - If you pick hyrogliphic translator from slave waiting room, you will be able to read a notice in sacred stone room (hyrogliphic), and a sign in slave room (written in Spanish). But, you will see nothing so useful on them... - Do you notice something common in all Artic's mazes? The exit from them are always the combination which in "normal world" returns the player at the same point: NSEW in "Planet of Death", SEWN in "Espionage island", and even four such combinations in this game: NSEW (to Emperors throne room), SNWE (to Halls of Halls), NSWE (to Traitors Hall) and NSEW (to Mirror room)! - Look up in hot baths to see a high ledge above. Use ladder (found in small room) to climb up. On this location you will find a gold bar. Later, you can use the gold bar in panneled room to turn slightly open panels into hole in panels. But what you can do with this hole? - The directions in the slaughter room are wrong: instead of west (as described), the exit is on the east! - Do not take oars from the boat, you can not drop them later! - Do not drop stones before you don't need them more, because they will be turned into a powder! - Do not waste a time in a fire room or sand dungeon: this is deadly! - Look the window in the temple, to see a propaganda message. - I believe that some scales, smouldering ashes and the skull have no usage in the game. Open questions: --------------- - The game ends when you bring out of temple even one treasure, but your score will be low. As the inventory is limited to 6 objects, and the total number of treasures is 8, you can not bring out all 8 treasures, so I selected the 6 most valuable treasures. But, does maybe exist a way to carry out all of them??? On the Adventureland site I read that maximal possible score is 3200, but my score is 4250? By the way, the scoring is: Golden eagle = 2500, Gold coins = 500, Golden brush = 500, Golden statue = 400, Golden chandaliers = 200, Golden bowl = 150, Golden thumbscrew = 100, Golden knife = 100. - In the panneled room there is a locked panel and a slightly open panels. Locked panel may be unlocked with a key (to create an opening), and a slightly open panels may be turned into a hole in panels using a gold bar (located on a ledge), but what with it? It seems that this is important because the gold bar is well hidden... - After normal playing, I tried to peek messages from the game, to check whether I discovered all objects and locations, and whether my solution is complete. All locations are discovered (so the hole in the panels surely does not lead to any new location), but I discovered that there is still one undiscovered object in the game: "A gold" (not "A gold bar"). What is this? Something important? Maybe in the hole in panels? Also, there is one message which I have not seen: "The bricks look loose". Where are bricks??? Comment: -------- This game (also known as Adventure B) is limited like all early Artic's games, but don't forget that this was first a game for ZX80 and ZX81! However, this game was famous and it is member of all "classic" adventure colections. It seems (for me) that it is the easiest Artic's game. The parser is very limited two-word parser, with limited vocabulary. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game solution by Zeljko Juric If something is not clear, ask me using E-mail: zjuric@utic.net.ba Or, if this address is outdated, search for E-mail at my home page: http://www.void.demon.nl/warajevo/index.html ***************************************************** Displayed on the Classic Adventures Solution Archive: http://solutionarchive.com
