MALICE
Walk Through by Dorothy Millard (Spectrum Version)
Scenario
To cure the king your must bring certain things to Wodger the Wily Wizard in the dispensary so he
can make a potent medicine.
1. Capture a smile - A phtograph of the grinning brie cat - exposed film in the camera.
2. A Human Sound - The hick-cup in a pot (hiccup).
3. A Sparkling Bead - A spider's web laden with dew.
4. A Teardrop - Teardrop in the hot water bottle.
5. A Beam of Heavenly Light - Moonbeam in the casket.
Notes
1. In order to light the lamp it is necessary to type LKGH LAMP - probably a typing error, but it
doesn't make it easy!
Walk Through
(Start standing outside palace gates), D (BeeTee Valley), ANSWER TELEPONE (hints), S (by stream),
GET KEYS, X KEYS (coloured red, black, green and white), E (brushing against white whispering grass
where you see topsy-turvy powder), GET POWER, N, N (rustling leaves where you see a glass stone),
GET STONE, E, E (ignore Maggis for now), S (hill), D (rocky ground), GET RING, W, U (top of crag
where you see a lunar casket), GET CASKET, D, E, S (among bushes where you see spider's web -
ignore it), W (standing before a hole-in-a-hillock), W (long underground passge where an old
upside-down tree brs your way), SCATTER POWDER (the tree turns right-side up so you can pass), W
(open ground), D (incline), S, S, S (sandy pit), GET SHOVEL, N, N, N (back to incline where you see
a stone slab in front of a solid wall), RAISE SLAB (must be carrying the shovel - reveals the
entrance to a cave), ENTER CAVE (to arsenal where you see an explosive football), GET FOOTBALL, W.
U, E, E, E, S (grazing ground), W (pleasant pastures), GET CAGE, S (field of straw), GET CAMERA, GET
FILM, PUT FILM IN CAMERA, S (cheese field where a brie cat is grinning t you), GET PHOTO, E, D
(ladder to a passage, but the ladder disintegrates), E (see the sleeping monster), GET SLEEPING, W,
W (see a pile of rubble), DIG RUBBLE (you clear a path), W, U (another ladder which also breaks, to
a field of barley where Loopy Loo tells you what is required to cure the king), E, N, E, N, N (back
to where the spider's web is), W, W (to where the upside-down tree is), SCATTER POWDER, W, D
(include where the slab is), ENTER CAVE, DROP SLEEPING (you place him in a corner), W, LOWER SLAB
(it returns to its original position and the monster is safely locked in the arsenal - this prevents
him killing you later on), DROP SHOVEL, U, E, E, E (to where the spider's web is), DROP POWDER,
GET WEB, N, U, N (back to forest glade where Maggis the old enchantrees asks you one of two riddles
to pass), SAY LIFE or SAY TIME (a hole appears), E (through the hole where you see sloe seeds), GET
SEEDS (note if you hadn't imprisoned the moster you would meet him in the next few locations).
E (see a friendly doormouse), GET DOORMOUSE, PUT DOORMOUSE IN CAGE, S, S, GET LAMP (unlit), S
(quicksand), SCATTER SLOE (the seeds worked "slowsand"... you're in an old chestnut
grove), DROP SLOE, W, S (Bonka's bower), GET NECKLACE, N, E, CROSS BRIDGE, THROW FOOTBALL (you
destroy the bridge making good your escape from Boinka the Conka), E, E, E, N (beneath a starry
sky), N, N, N (entrance to the saucer factory where you see a flying hick-cup), GET CUP, W (see a
keyhole set into a trpdoor), INSERT KEY (which colour?), WHITE (a trapdoor springs open westward),
DROP KEYS, N (rocky ground), GET FLINTSTONE, S, W, LKGH LAMP (this probably should be light lamp - a
light flickers inside the lamp), S, E, S, W, S, E (Maggis remembers you and says to give him the
word to go free), CHAN (you re back beneath a starry sky).
N, E (perpetual night where you may sometimes glimpse moon), WAIT (if necessary until the moon
appears and throws its silvery beam upon you), CATCH MOONBEAM (in what?), CASKET (you have captured
a moonbeam), RUB GLASS (the stone becomes a steely sword), S (Harfa Garskill stands before you, a
gruesome monster he and strong), KILL HARFA (with sword), DROP SWORD, S (sunny slope), GET POT, PUT
CUP IN POT, D, W, W (trunk road where a big elephant blocks your way), RELEASE DOORMOUSE (he is
frighted off), S (twisty trail where you see a hot water bottle), GET BOTTLE, W, W (poolside where
you see a teardrop), GET TEARDROP, PUT TEARDROP IN BOTTLE, E, E, N, E, E, S (dispensary where
Wodgert the wily wizard is waiting for the ingredients), THERETHERE (the wizard mixes together the
ingredients to produce potent medicine), GET THERETHERE, W (throne room where the king lies ill
upon his bed... he says "You have cured all the Malice in Blunderland - now cure me"),
GIVE THERETHERE (the king puts ThereThere to his lips, smiles and leaps from his bed cured... you
may marry his daughter Alice whom you have long feasted your eyes upon... you'll wed Alice in
Wonderland).
