GIRO QUEST

Scenario
You are Mr. B. Idle and unemployed.  You have to sign on at the unemployment exchange and cash your
GIRO before returning home with the money.

Walk Through
(Start in the living room of your ground floor flat), EXAMINE TABLE (find key - leave it here until
later), S (kitchen), EXAMINE SINK, OPEN DRAWER, EXAMINE DRAWER, GET HAMMER, GET SANDWICHES, N, W
(bedroom), OPEN WARDROBE (locked), SMASH WARDROBE (using hammer), DROP HAMMER, EXAMINE WARDROBE, GET
JACKET, WEAR JACKET, LOOK UNDER BED, GET UB40, E, E (must be wearing the jacket to exit), S (garden
shed), GET SPADE (leave the torch here for later).

N, E, S (high street), E (zebra crossing), CROSS ROAD, S (small cottage), EXAMINE GARDEN (must be
carrying the spade - a lady asks you to dig her garden), YES (you earn £2.50), W, W (shopping
precinct - leave the bunch of keys as they are not needed), S, E, E (bus stop), CATCH BUS (you get
off at a bus shelter where a vicious dog bars your way), FEED DOG (with sandwiches - it runs off),
E, NE, E, S (graveyard), EXAMINE GRAVE, N, W, SW, W, S, W (bridge), S, E, U (unemployment benefit
office), SIGN ON (the clerk tells you to come back next week), D, W, W, W (newsagents and general
store), GET BATTERIES, INVENTORY (you should now have 80p), E, S, S (pub), EXAMINE BAR (must be
carrying the 80p only - you see a beer), DRINK BEER (this is necessary so that you have the correct
amount of money at the end, as if you have too much the game will not end).

E, E (maze of tall hedges), E, NE, SE, E, N, N, W, S, GET PEN, SW, W, SW, W (bandstand), N, W, N, W,
W, W (GPO entrance), N, W (sorting office - if you've signed on a letter should be here), RING
BELL (a man appears and offers you a letter), OPEN LETTER, INVENTORY (you have an unsigned giro),
SIGN GIRO (using pen), DROP PEN, E, S, E, E, E, NE, N (bridge), E, N, N, N, N, NW, W, S (garden
shed), GET TORCH, N, W (living room), INSERT BATTERIES (into torch), GET KEY, S (kitchen), UNLOCK
DOOR (using key), DROP KEY, OPEN DOOR, D (it's dark), LIGHT TORCH (note this is the only place
where you can light the torch - you find yourself in the cellar), GET CARD (credit), U, OFF TORCH,
DROP TORCH, N, E, E, E, S, E (zebra crossing), CROSS ROAD, S, W, W, W (post office), CASH GIRO,
INVENTORY (you should be carrying £28.65, the credit card and a UB40), E, E, E, N, CROSS ROAD, W,
N, W, W (living room).
