As Nathan, Inquisitor of The Order of St. Leofric, you have been summoned to the study of Father-Magister Alian to commence an investigation for the Council of Twelve. Father-Magister Alain informs you that the Lord Talent of the Village of Dinham is believed to be attempting to open a portal into the forbidden Thirteen Realm - the realm which brings disorder - THE REALM OF CHAOS!
Father-Magister Alain closes his eyes, his face cloaked by the gentle mist which rises from the ice-blue slab at his feet. He raises his hands and the azure cloud of the Transmission Spell billows around you...
Originally released in 1985 by Magus. Rewritten and rereleased by Robico in 1987. The only part of the Realm of Chaos Trilogy actually released.

This is a very large game with many many objects and an intriguing back story. I would recommend exploring as much as possible before tackling the puzzles as some require precise timing and full understanding of the goings-on are needed. Robico games are also the only text adventures I have ever come across where "examine all" works for your inventory and all of the takeable and non-takeable items in the current location. Peter Killworth would never have approved! If you fancy something substantial to chew on all of the Robico games are highly recommended.
This starts tough and gets tougher and tougher. There are a couple of illogical steps which may be bugs; the tobacco only seems to function in its designated way if you are wearing a certain item and there are another two puzzles which stretch the bounds of probability but on the whole you will not find many better (or longer) fantasy quests than this. There are well over sixty inventory items to juggle and very few red herrings. Robico's reputation for weaving rich, absorbing puzzlefests with interesting narratives is justly deserved.
