Synopsis
Plot
You play the role of Godfrey de Goodheart, a bold, but impoverished knight. King Fredrick III has sent you to rescue his only daughter, the beautiful Princess Fatima, from the dungeons of Baron von Evil's castle. You have also been asked to capture the Baron's treasures, which he amassed by cruelly exploiting his serfs. If you can rescue the princess and return the Baron's ill-gotten treasures, the king has promised you Princess Fatima's hand in marriage.
Notes
This adventure was published in
Micro magazine, issue 54, November 1982, pp. 41-46. The original listing is for the Commodore PET with modifications for the Apple II. An unofficial port (i.e. rip-off) was commercially published by Keypunch Software for the Commodore 64.
It is an old-fashioned treasure hunt based on the same engine that Scott Adams described in Creative Computing, August 1979; SoftSide, July 1980; and Byte, December 1980.
In 1987 this was ported to AGT and redubbed Crusade or Crusade Adventure.
Jim Gerrie has created a version of the game for the TRS-80 MC-10.
David Malmberg briefly discussed this game in an interview on Stephen Granade's Brass Lantern site:
I have always been interested in adventure games - ever since I first played Scott Adams' Adventureland and issued the command CLIMB TREE and I entered a whole new world. I reverse-engineered Scott's BASIC code and wrote my first adventure, Castle Adventure, using his basic engine and game structure. Castle Adventure was later published in the magazine "Micro - The 6502 Journal," where I was a Contributing Editor.
