House of Thirty Gables resembles a ZORK-lite treasure hunt; the player must solve a number of puzzles to collect gold coins and other treasures, dealing with classic monsters like dwarves and snakes.
It appears to be written using a heavily modified version of the Scott Adams adventure engine; Miller also wrote the Eliza-like "Dr. Chips" for Adventure International. The game has an innovative, but rather sadistic buy-a-hint system that livens up the proceedings in several key sequences.
