"We (Wordmongers) decided to write a couple of games which we'd effectively give away for free, or close to free. The idea was to sell more "blank" EPROMs by offering some silly value-add to them. "Play the game once or twice, then erase the EPROM," sort of thing. Scrazble was the other nonsense game we wrote.

Clive came up with the name "The Whithered Toad," I built a plot around it, then we cobbled together a rather poor adventure engine for it. The world took it a lot more seriously than we did." (Derek Fountain on the Z88 Forums)
