You are in a small log cabin in the mountains. There is a door to the north and a trapdoor in the floor. Looking upwards into the cobwebbed gloom, you perceive an air-conditioning duct. Hanging crookedly above the fireplace is a picture of Whistler's mother, with the following inscription underneath: "If death strikes and all is lost - I shall put you straight."
Note
As documented in An ICL Anthology, Quest was produced at ICL by Doug Urquhart and Keith Sheppard, later joined by Jerry McCarthy. A three-year "hobby" (?) project, the finished System 10 game ended up widely distributed and eventually ported for System 25, DRS 20, CPM, DOS and Windows.
Jason Dyer explored the game as part of his All the Adventures project. At the time of writing, only a later Windows 16-bit Visual Basic 3 port survives; via the IF Archive.

It runs pretty smoothly - it freezes for a couple of seconds when restoring or loading a saved game.
