Synopsis
Plot
As the captain of the Titanic, you must
almost avoid the famous iceberg incident, then round up all of the obstinate passengers and get them into the lifeboats, salvaging a couple of valuables along the way.
Notes
This was adventure #12 in the SoftSide Adventure of the Month Club subscription service. It was released in May 1982 and first advertised in
SoftSide, issue 29, vol. 5, no. 8, May 1982, p. 81.
This is called 'Dateline Titanic' in the game itself, 'Titanic' in the instructions and the original advertisement and 'Dateline: Titanic' in subsequent advertisements. The latter were written by SoftSide magazine staff, not the original author, so the former is considered to be the correct title.
This is loosely based on the sinking of the RMS Titanic on 15 April 1912.
This has a fun sense of humor and is not overly difficult. It gets a bit repetitive in the late going as we round up the rest of the randomly appearing passengers, but there are quite a few puzzles to solve along the way. It's not overly difficult, especially because there are no fatal dead-ends and no real time pressure despite the sinking ship.
