Synopsis

Plot

Boy, I'm sick of that guy! I.Q. approaching zero, from the negative side. Vocabulary limited, favourite expressions I CAN'T and I DON'T UNDERSTAND. He's nuts!

Word is, you'll take him off my hands and maybe like help him get home.

Cat says he's Maurice Marina (typical!) and he's from Assylious IX.

Notes

Note: Although listed here under the OSI/Computerkit platform, this was produced for the Compukit UK101, a popular UK clone which had specific enhancements for the British market.

Galactic Hitchhiker is one of the earliest examples of a British-authored text adventure for home computers. It was first advertised in October 1980. See this page for information about the game.

The game parodies or mirrors several elements of A Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Jason Dyer has covered the game as part of his All the Adventures project.

A YouTube walkthrough is available.

Thanks to a later catalogue, provided by IanB over at Stardot, it's now known that Mr Knight later sold the game as Merlin Micro Systems Ltd.

In 2022, Jim Gerrie produced a port of the game to TRS-80 MC-10; which can be played online at his site.

Also in 2022, Anthony Hope ported the 6502 machine code of the UK101 original to the BBC Micro. See his GitHub for details. This version can also be played online.
