It's great that they create those competitions for beginners, so that newcomers will embrace the best genre in computer gaming more easily. Starting with easy text adventures will help them surely later to play some old masterpieces out there.

AmigaBASIC is really slow... Checked the listing and it can be easily ported (with minor changes) to a much faster Basic language, like AMOS Pro.

Never heard of those books to say the truth. Did a quick search and I found them really interesting, I guess you can play alone (?). It reminds me of the Zork books, which you choose which path you want to follow, but this one is with maps, dice etc; more close to RPG.

The Pawn from Magnetic Scrolls has a nice intro music and a hi-res resolution picture (the poster actually that comes with the game). That's on the Amiga.
