Re: Worm in Paradise and Return to Eden in CP/M
Hey, I'm playing Return to Eden right now in an Amiga Emulator (on a Linux machine). It's got charming graphics and the invaluable commands: oops and ram save/ram load. Quite challenging and fun, as was Snowball when I played it a couple of months back.

How about 'Designed on the C64 in 1988 and implemented (and expanded) in Inform in 2001'?

Here is another thought. Why even separate the two? It's not like the forum is flooded by messages.

Re: Are you kickstarting Andrew Plotkin?
Well, there is Textfyre , too... ;)
Indeed, you're right. Thanks for reminding me. They have been around for a while. I went there and saw that they are selling The Shadow in the Cathedral in a Hobbyist Edition which can be played in any Glulx interpreter so I just bought it in the hopes to be ...

Hilarious! That alone is worth $10 I think.Gunness wrote:In the plus column, everybody, please remember that this project should finally give Howard Sherman/Malinche's repeated claims of being the only publisher of IF the kiss of death.

Re: Are you kickstarting Andrew Plotkin?
@dave Am I correct to assume that your feelings about Apple takes precedence over your feelings about text adventures?

Re: Are you kickstarting Andrew Plotkin?
I agree with you, actually, or rather, agreed. Initially I was a bit miffed about Andrew Plotkin only wanting to support the iPhone-platform, but after reading his explainations and giving it a thought on my own I'm reasoning like this:
a) If I back him now I will get a version I can play, i.e. the ...

Are you kickstarting Andrew Plotkin?
I am. I'm backing him with $25 because I think he's the closest to Infocom and Magnetic Scrolls we have nowdays and now he wants to go writing text adventures full-time. Who wouldn't want to kickstart him?

Now that would be terrorific... no, phantasmiastic... no, fabulouistious... eh, there are no words for how great it would be to have Mr Meretzky in this forum.

Retro Gamer 82: The Making of… Leather Goddesses Of Phobos
Issue 82 of Retro Gamer has a 4 page article about the making of Leather Goddesses Of Phobos. I bought the magazine today mostly because of that article (but I have nothing against retro in general :) ). I haven't read it yet but it seems to be an interview with Steve Meretzky.

Re: Real-time games
A "real-time" tag is very interesting to those playing games in an emulator. If time goes on by itself like in The Hobbit it is not advisable to run the emulator at a higher speed (e.g. to increase the speed of graphics-drawing). That's one reason to prefer "true" turn-based games; you can increase ...

I never heard about the Beatles game until I read about it in Retro Gamer, which made it an even funnier read. Seems like a strange game, yes.
