Re: Platform distinction

Most (not all) Acorn Electron games will run on a BBC Micro. However, the reverse is not so true. The Electron was effectively a cut-down version of the beeb for the home market and is missing a number of features - notably the base system lacked the teletext MODE 7, which was often used for beeb ...

Re: New site - bug reports

I've changed the info icon to be a few pixels smaller - hopefully that's better for most people.

Re: Quest for the Power Rod

I used a combo of two programs to take a look inside the game: Grackle and Ungac.
Glad to know my program (grackle) is getting used :-) (I wrote it to allow the playing of games, but this is harder than dumping them.)

I haven't updated it for a couple of years, so if you want anything added or ...

Bah... The only IF I ever finished writing was time travel and adolescent humour - if only I could have a few words with my teenage self.

An underutilized "theme" seems to be humour (not the adolescent type). Maybe it's difficult to write a funny game based on a funny book, for example. Though I did like the ones that had Aunt Matilda in them. Or games that have allusions and references to all kinds of things, like a spoof of various ...

A quick search on Google brought me to:

If you look under RISC OS software he owns up to having rewritten some of his games in inform (and has links).

I can have a look if you want.

On the Spectrum keyboard the " are done with Symbol Shift+P. Symbol Shift is normally mapped to SHIFT or CONTROL, but this is emulator dependant.

Back and forward are also broken, which is quite annoying (I think I'm the only person in the world who still uses back and forward...)

I was trying to catch up with solutions not sent in and remembered this. Unfortunately I can't find my notes and map. Doreen, do you still have yours, could you write this up?

If note, just respond and I'll play the adventure through again...

I'll write it up.

Just one note: the first security door (where you insert the tag) also only opens for a limited time, it seems to be about 20 moves.

Ah got it! If you enter the monolith room with the computer it refuses to help you again. So just drop the computer before the monolith room, grab the blueprints, pick up the computer and "help" again.

One last note:
'Congratulations!' it says. 'You're going home at last'.
You have score 100 ...
