AAS (Advanced Authoring System)

I was updating some games and came across AAS again.

IFWiki lists it as an "XML-based authoring system" and then notes that the entire thing was later revealed as an elaborate, April's Fool hoax.

Re: Grundy NewBrain Emulation ..

Thanks for the info, Colin.
Is it easy to use for those with no prior knowledge of the NB? Ie. does it run out of the box with some sort of Autoboot feature?

Re: You are the hero - Fighting Fantasy gamebooks

This all sounds highly intriguing!
I can tell it's time to uncover my dusty copy from whatever place I've hidden it in (probably an unreachable box in the garage) :)

Re: Arcane Quest by KAYDE Software 1983

I think this may be another case of vaporware. I've only ever seen it in ads - no reviews or anything else.

Re: Grundy NewBrain adventure games by KAYDE

Hi Colin,
we corresponded a bit back and forth regarding the NewBrain a few years ago :)
Kayde only existed for a short while before going bankrupt, and judging from my research a lot of their games never made it beyond the announcement stage.

If you're aware of any other NB games, please let me ...

Re: Adventure Challenge

Glad to understand some of these hints again :)
There's been way too much work lately and now I'm off to Holland for a few days. I thought I'd have the time to think up a nice puzzle but alas no. I'll return shortly!

Hmmmm.... Countdown to Doom? (technically it looks more like a count-up, but I'm being lenient here!)

Re: What games should we include?

Interesting discussion, this. Thanks for weighing in.
Alastair, I hear you. And agree.

The established "consensus" seems to be to classify genres according to game mechanics. In all other media, themes are much more prevalent as genre definitions (actually, CASA follows this in its "genre" term ...

Re: What games should we include?

Interesting. While I don't necessarily disagree with your assessment, Alastair, I would personally find it very tricky to apply in a real-life situation. Would it take more than one instance of an "adventure-like" puzzle for the game to warrant inclusion? How far into the game would I have to look ...

Re: Adventure Challenge

I still don't understand this bit about the position of the small image. No matter how many times I read it. I thought it might be "why" and "in" --> "wine", but that's not working out either.

New clue, please :)
