Re: Broken Sword on Kickstarter

"And the Academy Award for best original screenplay goes to...." :D

As for AMBX, I'd suggest we take it one step further and hand out scratch and sniff cards for all adventure games. That's retro gaming right there.

Re: Broken Sword on Kickstarter

The third game had a ridiculous number of "move the crates" puzzles, but the fourth was a definitite improvement. Except the non-skippable dialogue was very annoying. Never figured out what AMBX was :)
The funding for the fifth game is already in place, and for $15 for the cheapest package you can't ...

Re: Broken Sword on Kickstarter

To each his own ;) I really enjoy the story-telling, and it would appear I'm not alone. The first entry isn't the best, but we're definitely past the mediocre mark.

Broken Sword on Kickstarter

When it comes to point'n'click games (which there must be other die-hard text fans that enjoy), the Broken Sword series are among the best out there. So I was immensely pleased to see that the series was getting a fifth entry via Kickstarter. The project is already in the black, so it's going ...

Re: The classic Sierra On-Line Adventures

Definitely keep them. Purists may frown at their inclusion, but let's face it: a game like King's Quest IV has more text, a better parser and probably a better vocabulary than quite a few of the early titles we include. We have other arrow key/joystick controlled games with text input, such as ...

Re: The classic Sierra On-Line Adventures

Honestly, I can't remember why Elvira was added. It must have been 10 years ago. As long as the problematic titles in question don't take up more than a tiny fraction of the total # of games, I don't see that it's much of a problem. For the record, this specific game has some quite elaborate puzzles ...

Re: Heyley Software Games

Well, I ran into a nasty bout of work, so I haven't had the time for these games until now :)
I guess I'm not well enough versed in the ways of protected BBC software. I've downloaded the intermediate discs as posted by billcarr2005 - he wrote something about "A quick one byte bypass of the ...

And while we're at it... our Heyley page links to a website with a contact page. I'd like to contact Howard Roberts, but the contact page fails?

Re: The four wands BBC

Once again I need a nudge:

Argh, that tree and that rope...
SWING ROPE
USE ROPE
TIE ROPE TO TREE/BRANCH
THROW ROPE
THROW ROPE AT TREE/BRANCH
all of the above, with LASSO instead of ROPE

LOOK UP
etc etc.

Nothing works, and as nothing in the location can be searched or examed, I don't thing the ...

Re: The four wands BBC

Ok, I'm officially stuck at this point. I think I've SEARCHed and EXAMINEd every possible object and WAITed till I was blue in the face ;)
- I have found every object on your list except the cat, which I presume is for getting rid of the dog? I've also tried catching the dog with the lasso or ...

Re: last prisoner game without a solution

It's a certified masterpiece, and yes, that's ol' Bridge Champ in the background.

Ironically (given the title of the thread), the image is from the famous attack on Aqaba scene, which Lawrence starts with his "No prisoners!" cry :)

So.... what's your status on the last Prisoner game?
