Re: Help Identify this story
It's definitely Valkyrie 17. I playtested the remake extensively so I have a fairly good recollection of the game

Yes, I know
I just find the pompousness of the entire site, well, amusing.
That includes "field trips" and the Malinche company. Sherman has so many titles that he's got to be CEO of at least 500 people

Well, he does have a bunch of testimonials (which may or may not have been doctored a bit)... but whether these are genuine remains to be seen.
But surely someone's got to be paying for that " field research in Russia ".
Anyway, who can compete with a pedigree like this:

Did anyone sign up? What's the status of the project? I gave the Kickstart page a brief look, but others might have been keeping up with the development.

Malinche
I was updating the data on some of Malinche's games - and then I noticed the price tag.
$49,95 a pop. Ouch.
I know Sherman runs a commercial outfit, but I was pretty surprised all the same. Still, if he can sell his games at that price point...

Extracting a GAC'ed C64 adventure
I was trying to help a chap with a C64 adventure written for the C64 (it's in Danish, so nobody here is likely to have played it).
When you play partway into it, you are prompted for a code which was part of the original documentation. I bought the game back in the day but ditched everything but the ...

Re: Desert Adventure, A new game in the Scott Adams format
Sure it doesn't hurt
I just think it's odd if the game can't be solved on its own. But it's been known to happen before.

Re: Desert Adventure, A new game in the Scott Adams format
Yes, I know, but how do I find the word in the game?
The game has to be solvable without the solution, but I couldn't find the word anywhere

Re: Desert Adventure, A new game in the Scott Adams format
One thing I still haven't found out, and unless I've overlooked it, I can't find it in your solution either: where do I learn the magic word? I didn't come across it, so I had to look it up in the solution.

Retro Gamer - anyone keeping track
In another thread it was mentioned that Leather Goddesses was featured in issue 82 of RG. And recently I noticed that the Austin brothers (Level 9 chaps) were interviewed in another issue.
I don't keep up with RG, as I don't care much for the plethora of console stuff and find that I only want to ...

AFAIK, the Retro Gamer articles aren't online. Shame, though!
Re: Nostalgia
Melbourne House's version of Sherlock is notoriously buggy. C&VG used to be filled with various reports on how to mistreat the parser and make hansom cabs enter themselves and make Lestrade vanish into thin air and such :) They probably pushed their Inglish parser too far.
