Re: Brian Howarth and the final Mysterious Adventures

Lone Survivor was released by Tynesoft rather than Howarth's usual company, so it's not unlikely that a few changes were made compared to the catalogue.
Besides, his games are not exactly known for their verbose descriptions, so changing the beginning shouldn't have been a major undertaking. And ...

Re: Brian Howarth and the final Mysterious Adventures

Of course, that makes sense. Lone Survivor certainly doesn't seem like a full-blown game. I can't believe I didn't think of that myself.

Re: Brian Howarth and the final Mysterious Adventures

Incidentally I contacted PDD (via Facebook) and pointed him in the direction of this thread :) But so far no answer - I don't know how actively he uses FB, though.

Re: Brian Howarth and the final Mysterious Adventures

Very interesting. I'll try to add those descriptions.

Re: WoS's permission.... it's based on a general permission Howarth gave in a newsgroup back in 1998. So they haven't actually been in touch with him.

Can't have a guy wait around for 5½ years with no response. I'll look into it! :)

Re: TI-99/4A for dummies

Ah! Important tip there. That might make a huge difference to my efforts. I really hate TI-99's BASIC implementation already.... :)

Hahaha, I like that, Mark - though "CASA exotics" might give some people the wrong impression ;)

Brian Howarth and the final Mysterious Adventures

For starters, does anyone know whatever became of Brian Howarth? Playing the Mysterious Adventures series was one of my first encounters with adventure games, and they were rather popular back in the day. But I have no idea where BH went off to. I asked Scott Adams, as they worked together for a ...

Re: TI-99/4A for dummies

It doesn't make much sense, and I can't get it to work.
I've tried various combinations of
OLD "DSK1.progname"
OLD progname
etc
nothing works :(

TI-99/4A for dummies

I wanted to test a few games in order to update their pages in the database, but I have no idea how to load them.
After fiddling about with the Win99a emulator, I managed to insert a virtual floppy, but that's where the troubles start.
I have tried LOAD and DLOAD, and there appears to be an OLD and ...

Re: Genre Suggestions

I don't think so. Who is playing the game is in my mind irrelevant. It's the nature of the game not who is the main character. Or you would decide on the most "predominant" feature of the game.
From my p.o.v., the features I mentioned (sword-fighting etc.) are an integral part of the setting and ...

Re: Genre Suggestions

Since I still can't think of a better genre name than "Multiple Player Characters" I have added "MPC" (for reasons of length) and an explanation of MPC to the site.
I just had a thought, Alastair. Does this cover games such as Knight Orc and Scape Ghost, where many of the puzzles are based on ...
