Re: Genre Suggestions

The reason I chose "Stuck on island" as a separate genre is that's a common device in literature, movies - and games. All the way from Robinson Crusoe up to the Cast Away film, as well as a considerable number of games. Usually the games will be about survival in exotic settings (and possibly with a ...

Re: CASA link

Maybe I came across somewhat unclear. As stated above, I don't think it's a good idea to change what is common practise on most sites. Hence I think the logo should continue linking to the forum front page as this is normal forum behaviour (even if a few forums don't adhere to this rule, as Sam says ...

Re: CASA link

I can manually change the forum code so that the logo in the upper left corner leads back to the main site. But a) this is overwritten whenever the forum software is updated, so we have to keep changing the link
hmm ... you sure that's the case? I think the link would probably be untouched.

Re: CASA link

Good question. That's something we should look into. I can manually change the forum code so that the logo in the upper left corner leads back to the main site. But a) this is overwritten whenever the forum software is updated, so we have to keep changing the link and b) it is not in line with the ...

Re: Missing in Action

In addition to Alastair's comment (which is absolutely correct) I can say that I have an ongoing dialogue with Martijn van der Heide, the owner of WoS, and several games have been removed from our database as a result of that.

Re: playing games on a mac

I'm no expert on Mac, but if she wants to play classic games on C64, Spectrum, Apple ][ or whatever, then yes, she needs an emulator.
If she wants to play modern IF, she needs an interpreter. There are a few available here:

For suggestions for beginner's games ...

Re: About the platforms/Japanese games

Ok, I started updating the Infocom titles myself. Headache-inducing stuff :) As far as I can tell the catalogue can't be complete. No mention is made of their games being out on Amstrad CPC, but I've seen several screenshots saying otherwise. Unless of course it's just the CP/M version being used.

Re: Trinity - anyone want to join in?

Trinity holds up extremely well, and it's definitely in my Infocom top 3.

(On the other hand, I keep trying to get excited about Ballyhoo and fail miserably every time)

Re: Out of Date Emulator Links

I'll take a look. I've never been terribly happy with EuphOric anyway, so it's great to have an alternative. Now we just need a Dragon emu with a better GUI. And a better TRS-80 one. And... ;)

If any of my fellow admins feel deeply like updating the Infocom titles, I won't stop you ;) I'm a bit low on time the next few days, but a large part of the submissions queue has gone.

Excellent. While we're at it, I've been in touch with Mike Meineck via Facebook, and if all is ok with him I'll add his notes to the archive.

Removing the Adam and MSX makes sense. We'll update the games accordingly.

Yup! I even heard that all info you can find on the web is true, so there's no need to question any of it.
