Re: Penguin Software / Polarware

Yeah, the entire case again Mark Pelczarski is as far-fetched as it is saddening. Thanks for the reminder regarding his site. I'll add a link to it from the Penguin.... whoops, make that Polarware page ;)

Maybe we should ask him if he would comment on his games?

Re: Forbidden Quest 1983

Hi Will & the rest,
sorry about the delay in getting the art prints up. We have quite a lot of submitted material in our queue at the moment. But I've added it now. Enjoy it, everybody!

Re: Infiltrator

The WoS link searches for any games containing the word "Infiltrator". This includes the US Gold game, but if you scroll down, the Zenobi game is near the bottom.

Intriguing :) I've never heard of the game but I'll take a closer look tonight.

Re: Paul's 4k Adventure - coder's help needed (again)

Ok, so here's what I've changed:

Your opponent can do 28 points of damage, tops. (The program generates a "random number" - if that random number is between 11 and 15, you would get that number x8 damage in the original! Looks like a programming error. I've reduced this to "x2"
The chances of ...

Re: Playtesters Required

Larry, just curious - where is ACE available from these days? Karen Tyers linked to a site called adventurecreation.co.uk back in 2005. Then the site moved to aceadventuregames.com, but this also appears to be defunct. I tried googling ACE but all the links point back to the latter site.

Re: Paul's 4k Adventure - coder's help needed (again)

@Dave: No, I didn't use the detokenizer, I just looked at the listing from within the game. I guess the other method would be easier :) (the LIST command in C64 BASIC is pretty sucky. As is the rest of the BASIC, actually!)

Also, this specific author seems to have had a reputation as a sort of "Ed ...

Re: Playtesters Required

Hi Larry, welcome to the forum :)
I'm sure that a number of our forum members will be quite familiar with your work. I've tested a number of games over the years and usually enjoy the process, but I'm a bit short on time at the moment. But I'll keep your post in mind if some more time should ...

Re: Paul's 4k Adventure - coder's help needed (again)

Maybe the armor would help... I didn't find it in the places accessible before the bottleneck guarded by the knight. Could it be that I missed it? If yes, then the game is slightly richer than I thought. I never suspected any hidden items, from what I saw in Paul's games so far. Could it be that ...

Re: Out of Date Emulator Links

Yeah, but the weird bit is that viceteam.org just mentions that the source code development has moved to SourceForge. It doesn't say anything about the downloads. Oh well :)

Re: Out of Date Emulator Links

Ok, all emulators have been added and the platforms have been sorted by named (as opposed to the previous sorting, which was more or less done in order of declining interest for yours truly ;))

Re: Sort of old-ish new member, or new-ish old member

The guides are available by clicking their respective platforms.
It is a bit of a convoluted process to reach a guide: you have to either click on a platform link from within a game entry, or do a direct search for that platform, either way you then have to click on the "starting guide" link to ...

Re: Out of Date Emulator Links

Thanks for the updates!

@Alastair: I had missed Sam's Apple II link - I've added it now. As for VICE, I thought the other site I linked to was their official site, but as far as I can tell there's no obvious mention of the new site. Excellent detective work :)

@Sam: I'll happily update the ...
