Games everybody should know

Most retro sites deal with only a single computer, so there's a natural centre which people can gather around. And there's usually a number of games that most, if not all, users have played and consider to be classics.

In here, though, we're a wildly varied lot, and with such a large selection of ...

Re: Idea: browse for "unsolved"

Interesting - idea noted :)
The aim is to make CASA a database of all (classic) adventures, solution or no solution. So there'll be lots of unsolved games down the road.

Dave, just ignore the solution ;) It's still a neat game.

Re: What happens to the image comments?

If it's a general reason (ie that the game came in two versions or something along those lines), the end of the synopsis seems like a good spot to place it)

Re: Xanadu (BBC) - looking for players ...

Hi, and welcome to the forum! Solutions? By all means :)
If you go to the main site, simply look up the game (it's here.
Then click Upload file - and we'll handle the rest.

Btw, this reminds me that I think I wrote a solution at some point. Wonder what became of it.

Re: What happens to the image comments?

At the moment, for internal use only, if any of the admins feel a comment needs to be attached to the file. This can then be seen when editing that file.

AFAIK, there's no technical reason why this comment couldn't be seen by all users, but I wouldn't know where to place it, layout-wise, and I don ...

Re: Lost or unreleased game you'd love to play

@Plissken: please educate me :) I've never even heard of Shoggoth.

@Sam: Yes, I'd love to forget the bugridden travesty that was Simon 3D. Blind-buy for me and some of the worst money I spent that year.

My idea with the thread was mostly games that wasn't available in any format, but sadly ...

Re: Clarification: Sypnosis and uploaded files

Hi Sam,
thanks for posting some excellent questions. They, along with a number of mails I've received, have made me realise that the site isn't as self-explanatory as I thought. I'll try to add a bit of information here and there, and I'll also write a guide on how to contribute to the site. The ...

Unless people want this information really badly, I don't have any particular urge to add it.

Re: New site - bug reports

It seems that the "freeware" tag is impractical so - at least for the time being - I've simply scrapped it.

Lost or unreleased game you'd love to play

After having been on the lookout for Klartz and the Dark Forces for at least 10 years, I managed to locate the game a few days ago. It was like getting a Christmas present in the middle of summer :) (of course, the game cannot in any way, shape or form live up to those ridiculously massive ...

Re: New site - bug reports

(what's the difference between the "-" and "(freeware)" options, by the way?).

I didn't know whether adding the (freeware) tag was a good idea. I've used to indicate games that started off as being commercial releases and were subsequently released as freeware. The "-" games have always been ...

Re: New site - bug reports

Yeah, that's certainly an issue. Our tech wizards have tried to deny access to some of the search engine bots, and we've made various other small tweaks, but in the long run I think I'll have to start thinking about ponying up some more money and look for a better web hotel.
