Re: New site - bug reports

Haha, good call. Is there anyone on this site who has ever played the original (not in emulated form, mind)? Mainframes aren't what they used to be :)
But of course the game should be in the list. The trick is to keep track of the endless permutations of the game. So far I've just added Crowther ...

Re: New site launched

Well, I'm pleased that we've discovered new ways for you to wreak havoc :)

If this Comment field isn't meant for normal users, it shouldn't be visible, except for admins, I would say.
There are two fields here that we might need to explain better.
Synopsis : this is where you give a brief ...

Good idea :)
Mark, I've added all your stuff including the comments. FOr the time being, we can just leave them there, until something better comes along ;)

Re: Drawing maps

Hi Finn, and welcome to the forum :)

If you look a little further up in the thread, you will find others who also like GUEmap. I've only tried it briefly myself - I guess you stick with whatever tool you've grown accustomed to.

Re: Mines of Saturn, early adventure for the Spectrum 16K

Sometimes I feel like I missed out on a great game, and sometimes.... well, let's just say that the last few posts had me convinced that I don't particularly need to try MoS ;)

Re: Mines of Saturn, early adventure for the Spectrum 16K

We aim to please!

The number of settings in phpBB3 is... overwhelming. But after browsing through the list mentioned in the link, the odd thing is that a lot of file types - including .txt - are supposed to be allowed. That would indicate that the problem lies elsewhere. Anyway, I've tried adding ...

Re: Mines of Saturn, early adventure for the Spectrum 16K

But this forum apparently refuses attachments :( (it says "The extension .sna is not allowed", but the extension .txt or no extension at all aren't allowed either: what IS allowed?) and I can't find any way to attach files to private messages either!

I'm always open to suggestions that can make ...

Re: Get Lamp

Well, it seems as if the dvd's are almost ready to ship. Including a genuine Feelie (tm). Ohhhhhh :D

Yeah, I know I've been whining about the lack of non-American writers, but I know I'm going to love every minute of it, anyway.

Re: Most overutilized/underutilized themes?

Memory loss also seems to be a recurring plot device of choice for movies. I guess it's just a winning concept.

As for games with this theme... hmmm.... I seem to have played loads of these over the years, but right now, my mind seems to have gone blank ()

Apart from Mindshadow, Amnesia for ...

Re: Reviews - your input needed!

Ok, we'd better move on with this so the site can get up and running :)

As has been pointed out, the winnable scale has a number of similarities with the cruelty scale, and as the latter is fairly well known, I think we'll just stick with it.

Thanks for the input, everybody.

Edit: The "writing ...

Re: Reviews - your input needed!

Last, but not least, you already told me that, Jacob, but I think it's a crucial point, so I'd like to repeat it: If the overall rating is (as planned) not an automatic (mathematical) result of the other ratings, but can still be given freely by the reviewer (e.g. the reviewer can decide to give a ...

Re: Reviews - your input needed!

Actually, I forgot what we ended up with. There are pros and cons to both "atmosphere" and "writing", as neither label really covers everything it should. I'm open to both of them.
