Hi Nathanael
This sounds very intriguing, but when I follow the link, I merely get an "account suspended" message?

Fredrik, Mr. Creosote, and Dave - I've set up a special subforum for the four of us for discussing this further. I hope you'll join me :)

Hi there!
Yes, this is still very much an issue. The site is in the same sad technical state as it has been for years. And something needs to be done.

Earlier in this thread, Fredrik has proposed an Oracle Application Express solution (sic!). It might be a viable option, but nothing has been ...

As long as it isn't in the archive, it's a welcome addition. Thanks for the head-up.

Well, you're supposed to be able to select the "notify me when my threads are updated" option - but somehow this tends to fail from time to time. It's not just a problem here - I see the same thing on other phpbb sites.

Thanks for leading me on - somehow, the end to part 3 didn't seem blatantly obvious :)

"beat" was the right word - now the Jabberwock is dead and I've transformed my lupins. I can't find any more puzzles?

Interestingly, you can just TAKE the Jabberwock, which will show up in your inventory as a "J" :)

I finally found some time to have another go at this - I had missed an exit in the northerly part of the map, which led to eight new locations.

I've disposed of the bandersnatch by using the four v?rpal sword, thus gaining the vorpal sword. This, as you state, scares off the jabberwocky.

But what ...

Alastair, thanks for asking. I simply haven't had any time for games during the last week, and the next one is pretty hopeless, too. Hope to be able to finish it soon.

Hmmm... interesting. My problem is that my programming expertise is somewhat limited. I can do some php and MySQL, but have absolutely zilch knowledge of Oracle. Are there any other capable persons out there?

But I'm glad to see your post. I hope this can help the site move forward somehow.

Congratulations on finishing this! Obviously your adventuring skills are more developed than mine.
Re: the vole, I was fairly tired when I wrote it, so I mixed up "vole" and "tove". Besides, I'm not all that familiar with The Jabberwocky, so perhaps some of the finer details are lost on me (it ...

See, it just helps a lot to go away for a few days, and voila, your problems are solved :D
Now I recall where I got stuck last time around. I had found the lifeboat but hadn't thought of the EMBARK command, so I was simply stuck in that bloody boat. Thanks a lot for clearing things up. Furthermore ...

Well, I'm heading off to Sweden for the weekend. I expect nothing less than massive progress once I return :)
Or maybe I'll settle for any kind of progress!

@Alastair: You're right - as it turned out, I had a more complete map of part 2 - however, the mapping is fairly complex, and at times I wonder whether the sea locations really are that numerous or if there is just some random text added into them. I have uploaded the correct map (you may have to ...

Re: Black Island Adventure (rarity!)

Give me a day or two to catch up, unlike some on this forum I cannot finish an adventure before the download even starts :D

That's the kind of impression I like to give!

Anyway, as should be apparent from the map, I have made some headway into part 2, though no earth-shattering ...
