I've only just started, so bear with me.

- To get across the fence, a bit of pole-vaulting is in order
- On the other hand, I haven't seen the thieves yet. Are they past the dog? If so, how do I get past it?
- Is there any point to the well? The game doesn't downright reject the word "larvae", so I ...

Babel and Shrapnel: highly recommended

No, I'm not stuck, I just wanted to weigh in with a couple of recommendations for those, such as myself, who feel that the selection of modern IF titles is a bit overwhelming ;)
None of the games are sparkling new (in fact, the first dates back to 1997), but they're both very different and well ...

No, like I wrote earlier, I think the BBC version is bugged - hence you don't need the torch to blow up the gunpowder, and the wall magically rebuilds itself all the time :P

But as for the trapdoor - there doesn't seem to be any mention of this in the text?? Weird

I played partway through this on the C64. Is the BBC version buggy? The code doesn't seem to use markers, so things keep reverting to their initial state: opened doors close again, the man bleed once more etc. etc. Very annoying.

Anyway, regarding the house: using the rope, you should be able to ...

Holy Horrors (new thread)

Hi,
first off... the board seem to have some stability issues at the moment. It's running really slowly and unfortunately, our HH thread appears to have disappeared :( :( I will try to fix this as soon as possible. I think it might be related to the massive invasion of spambots.

Anyway, to get ...

Ok, so here's a brief overview of the current sorry state of affairs ;):

- We now have a goblet - use unknown
- If you push the button after having released the butler, he returns and says you've broken the button. Either way it doesn't seem to do anything
- You can enter the tunnel below the moat ...

Ifmapper? Never heard of it - but it has a nice ring to it ;)

So what feature does this baby come with?

No progress for me, but I'm certainly willing to give it another go, if anyone else will join in.

Yes, I thought the writing was really good, and it actually had something resembling a plot. Not something you find every day in an 80s adventure. The companion game, Xanadu, is more average, but still an enjoyable experience.

Registration of new users - please read!

Man, those pesky spammers! I'm sick and tired of them. After deleting 50 of their registrations during the last three days, I've decided to change the registration procedure. I've tried various methods that should make it harder for spambots to register, but at the moment my efforts aren't very ...

Jacob, I don't know why you would consider it sacrilegious as the Apple II is both older and not as advanced as the C64.
Well, I suppose it's because so many people hold it in high esteem. That said, I've always found it odd that the Apple II emulation scene is so relatively small compared to what ...

I know this is sacrilege, but... considering that Apple II-games are disk based, I think a disappointingly large number of them are technically primitive. On my native C64, disk based games often had advanced parsers, or at least they had excellent graphics.
Still, I've dug into the Apple II on a ...
