I solved this simultaneously with Amnesia. It's quite a bit shorter, and has some neat puzzles, though the story is a lot weaker than in Amnesia.

If you need help, let me know :)

Argh! I can't believe it! I tried every conceivable way of getting that damn raincoat off! Not that the puzzle makes much sense :)

Anyway, I'm grateful for your assistance - the game is finished and we're all on to bigger & better things. I'll make a post about this later today :D

Jeez, Chris, it's certainly been a long time. Thought you were lost for good ;) Good to have you back.

Yes, I'm still struggling with this one - any help will be appreciated! UPDATE: completed the map (up to the spot where I'm stuck, of course ;))

Ok, I've placed some hints and a partial map on the main page now. I haven't had the time to draw the entire map yet, but I've done the larger part now (the London bit is still missing)

Hi,
this is the right one:
game

The parser isn't too bad, and there are some neat puzzles along the way. But mostly I think the writing is well above average, and the story is quite intriguing.

I'll post some hints for it later today. If there's anything else I can do to bring you up to speed ...

Amnesia (BBC)

I'm stuck at the very end of this one, with a score of 320 out of 350.
I'm currently in the sewer, trying to climb up to the manhole cover. But apparently I'm too chubby to get out!
Anyone played this? It's actually a nice little game.

No, you can't.

As for the boat, you just need to carry the plug, then ROW.

And you should be almost done!

KILL BLACK (press RETURN)
(the game responds with "WITH WHAT?")

Simply press RETURN again (indicating that you won't use anything), and the rat is dead. As for later characters, you should use a single word (the intended weapon) when asked WITH WHAT.

I hope you can get it to work this time.

Simply by killing it (presumably with your bare hands).

Do bear in mind that the parser is stoopid. When you took the rusty key, you had to type TAKE RUSTY since TAKE KEY wasn't understood. So you need to KILL BLACK rather than KILL RAT.

I had a few hours to spare, so I managed to solve it. It is indeed very short (around 30 locations) and no unnecessary items at all.

A few hints:
- You can't take the items near the rat and chef until these characters are gone.
- Get rid of the rat first, and several of your problems (chef, cobweb ...

No, the basic package only contains Word, Excel (spreadsheet), Powerpoint (presentation) and Outlook (email/calendar). More expensive versions also contain a database and a DTP program, but still no drawing tool. Odd, really!

So in that respect, OpenOffice is quite a revelation.

"small funny game" has a nice ring to it, so I think I'll go for that one :)

After starting to do maps electronically, I don't think I could ever be bothered to draw them on paper again :) Just the memory of endless erasing of lines and adding of rooms in weird places 'cause you're running out of space - it's enough to give me nightmares. Of couse, mazes are still easiest to ...

Yes, sounds like fun!
Any hints as to genre, completeness of the game, etc?

Drawing maps

I was wondering what people might be using for creating maps. For me, mapping is part of the fun of playing adventure games (yes, I'm a masochist so I even enjoy the odd maze), and I'm happy to say that for me, the days of drawing maps on paper are long gone.

I've tried using Microsoft Word, but ...
