Feasibility Experiment

Jacob, which version of Feasibility Experiment is your solution based on? I've been playing the one for the Spectrum and that one certainly does not allow commands to contain more than two words (as TIE ROPE TO TREE; not a major problem) and the inventory limit is certainly exceeded a couple of ...

Wow, I set a record for least number of points in a completed game. Now everybody's intrigued :)

Re: Colossal Cave - the board game

The biggest problem I have with many of these Kickstarter projects is that they have plans with dependencies. "If we reach sum X, we will also do Y!" What if Y is the sole reason I want the product? If they reach the basic financial goal, but not the Y threshold, they will take my money anyway ...

Re: Colossal Cave - the board game

Funny idea, but I doubt I'd pay >350$ for that ;) I take it we will play it on the first official CASA meeting?

Joke: A game making fun of its own medium
Parody: A game making fun of something else

So, does this sound right?

Re: M25!

In the so-called "modern" era, countless joke games have been released. Though only few of them are on CASA and the line is admittedly blurry.

Re: Broken Sword on Kickstarter

Oh, yes the storytelling... "Hello, I'm George Stobbart, an American tourist. How do you like this dirty tissue I'm shoving in your face?" :D

This AMBX sounds like fun. SimFrm would have been the natural candidate to support this. The smell of cow dung being blown in your face would have made that ...

Re: Broken Sword on Kickstarter

Among the best? The first one is so decidedly mediocre it'd almost comical. The second one is a puzzleless joke.

Re: The classic Sierra On-Line Adventures

So, Jacob, what is your view on the Sierra AGI games? Almost the complete screen is taken up by graphics and the protagonist is seen and moved around with the cursor keys on the screen, but any activity above that goes through a simlistic text parser. Include them or not?

Re: Modern Point'n'Click Titles

I'd say keep the fairness aspect (getting stuck, dying) out of it. Although admittedly blurry, the line is just the interface. My working definition is this: If you have your hand on the mouse most of the time, it's probably point & click. If you type most of the time, it probably belongs on CASA.

My advice is not to use a closed format tied to one specific platform. Your target audience will be small enough as it is. No need to arbitrarily cut it down even further.

I sometimes wonder if he lives in that world of self-delusion himself. I mean, what was the point of making up stories about "multi-million dollar companies" hiring him to write promotial games for them, like he told in Get Lamp?
