Re: Leadlight - a brand new horror adventure for the Apple I

I enjoyed Leadlight - definitely recommended. Excellent documentation, too!

Re: CASA News RSS feed?

The problem here is that unlike WWW browsers, feed readers are actually serious about expecting well-formed XML. One parsing function in our code (nl2p) isn't sensitive enough of its context. If there are too many line breaks in a list, it'll break the XML structure. Since I haven't written that ...

Re: Deja Vu - eine phantastiche geschichte

I'd say the dark blue object is a bottle which is leaking some sort of fluid (light blue).

Re: Are you kickstarting Andrew Plotkin?

Yes, when that "hobbyist" edition was released, I contemplated buying one of their games, too, but it really seems they're all aimed at a specifically young audience which somehow put me off. My 'inner child' is still very much alive, but I fear it might not just a childish story, but also a very ...

Re: Are you kickstarting Andrew Plotkin?

dave: While I personally agree with all your sentiments (yes, I believe all Apple products are overpriced, inferior crap), you have to keep in mind that Apple's marketshare and mindshare (the latter even more than the first) in the USA is huge. Especially in "IF" circles where I'd assume Apple users ...

Re: Are you kickstarting Andrew Plotkin?

I certainly wish him all the best and I hope he succeeds, but to answer your "who wouldn't?": Developing games exclusively for some phone (even worse: one without a keyboard!) is not something I want to actively support. This just isn't a serious platform.

I'm curious to see, though, what will come ...

Re: CASA News RSS feed?

Jacob, just decide what you want on three counts:
- Feed format (RSS 1, RSS 2, Atom)
- Pre-generated static file versus dynamically generated on every call
- What to include: just the 'post' or also the games lists

Re: CASA News RSS feed?

Tool? We've got a scripted site here - we just need to add a hook to the news posting which generates such a 'feed' (which is really just a simple XML based markup). Alternatively, we can have a dedicated script which outputs RSS compliant markup.

Screenshot cropping

I found quite a few non-cropped ones. Examples:
http://solutionarchive.com/images/id,1337/
http://solutionarchive.com/images/id,42/
http://solutionarchive.com/images/id,336/

Is it an intended effect to have all this empty space around the actual image of the game? To put things in some kind ...

Re: Synopsis - what to aim for?

If there's one thing I'm not, it's fair ;)

I agree with your sentiment about providing original contents instead of reproducing existing stuff. Earlier (in another discussion), you said there isn't much information about most of these classic games available at all. That's perfectly true. Even a ...

Re: Synopsis - what to aim for?

Mark: Hope you didn't misunderstand me - I do think your review is a perfectly ok review. What I wanted to point out using it as an example is that Jacob mustn't succumb to double standards: on the one hand, approving short reviews, but on the other hand, pretending in this discussions there are ...

Re: Synopsis - what to aim for?

a full review, which gives a much better look at the writing, the puzzles etc.
Does it? So far, there is only one review on the site: http://solutionarchive.com/review/id,1/ . It's a review alright, because it gives a subjective account of the quality of the game, but it's not longer than a long ...
