I've created a cassette image from the ACTOR.TAP file on the disk [1]. To run it first 'disconnect' any disk controllers from the emulator before you CLOAD and RUN the image.
Actors_Nightmare.zip
[1] Since it is a BASIC program it is quite easy to create a cassette image, in this case the ...

Re: new text adventure game for Atari VCS - The Realm of No!
CYOA, not adventure.
So it would come under the "Multiple Choice" genre if we chose to list it?
Don't click the first (retrogamingmagazine) link, as it leads to a page with a search box which in turn leads to a virus-ridden web site.
I'm not seeing this, I get an article about the game and ...

Re: CASA 20 years
Congratulations Jacob. I can't recall when I first discovered CASA but after I did it became one of the sites I would frequently visit, and even if I had not been given greater responsibilities I would have remained a regular visitor.

Re: Castle Of Fear error
I've resubmitted it through the site, so hopefully it should be updated soon!
Tinker, I have a feeling that the site is treating SSD files as text files which is why the disc images become corrupt. Since zip files should upload/download without problem would you please try zipping up both ...

Re: Small CASA bug / Upload File when not logged in
Click the browser's Back button and all your input is gone and you have to start all over again. I now do all my changes in a text editor before I even log on, then make the submission or changes as quickly as possible.
Sometimes, but not always and perhaps not even on this site, if you take your ...

Re: Who or what is "GAC user"?
Mountains of Ket by Simon Lipscombe & Tim Walsha
Published by Incentive Software. I have the second author as Tim Walsha, CASA has it as Richard A. McCormack, but it was published for several platforms. Could GAC User have published it before or after Incentive or just on the Amstrad?
My ...

Re: Genre Suggestions
After a brief look... yeah, I could see the justification of using 'word play' as a tag for one or two of them, because that's the main mechanic... but is your intention really to use the genre system to tag games which have specific types of puzzles in them? You'd be in danger of turning into ...

Re: Genre Suggestions
Wordplay. I had thought that Nord and Bert Couldn't Make Head or Tail of It was a one off but I am now aware of another game - Under, In Erebus - that utilises wordplay based puzzles.

Re: Competition Entries etc. (split from "Genre Suggestions")
Is it possible to filter the random game selection?
I'll let those with the technical knowledge answer your question, but is this the nub of your objection to adding Speed-IF titles - that the random game selection brings to your attention games that may pique your interest, but as more Speed-IF ...

Re: Competition Entries etc. (split from "Genre Suggestions")
Would it make sense and be technically possible to, say, filter off unwanted material from search results? Any other equally dim-witted suggestions?
Why is an exclusion filter a dim-witted suggestion? You can already search for games without solutions.
If it is a question of a layout for the ...

Re: Competition Entries etc. (split from "Genre Suggestions")
I have split the above posts off from their original thread because I think they make for an interesting and important topic of their own that goes beyond suggestions for genres. Please feel free to continue the debate.

If you are looking for the debate about competition entries it has been split off to form its own thread. Please continue that discussion there, if you wish to suggest genres for inclusion in the database then add those suggestions below in this thread.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Genre Suggestions
Some interesting points here. But does anyone really play and enjoy Speed IF or competition games?
I've played A Change in the Weather from IF Comp 1995. It's pretty good, in fact I gave it a rating of 8. I can't recall playing any other competition game though, and I have definitely not played ...

Re: Genre Suggestions
Is this the page you're looking for? In the opening paragraphs, Jacob says, "So my hope is to create a better site that will remain a repository for walkthroughs etc., but will also encompass game ratings, reviews, recommendations and more." The latter hasn't been terribly successful, as the CASA ...

Re: Genre Suggestions
Alex, the CASA of old was primarily a solution archive but today's CASA is much more than the old site. I have been trying to find the post where Jacob corrects me for making that same mistake because Jacob's post clarifies the purpose of CASA 2.0, but I have had no success (all I know is that the ...
