Re: Do you know anything about the history of these games?
The odd thing is that the Oric version has a different title than the Speccy (Kilburn Encounter vs Cricklewood). Grant openly admits that his recollections are a bit hazy here and there. Because Kilburn's close to Cricklewood? (They are areas within London, the distance between them is about two ...

Re: Alice and the March Hare - Tatung Einstein
I still don't understand why you had so much trouble making MESS work for Tatung Einstein emulation. It's not that difficult. And for this game it's even easier than for Island of Artuan, since the BASIC disk is not even required.
Once you have MESS up and running, then it's not too difficult to ...

Re: Do you know anything about the history of these games?
My impression has always been that Pythonesque was a hacked version of Streets, given the theme and lack of an official license. I think it more likely that it was called Pythonesque but had to change its name precisely because it did not have an official license (see HitchHiker-64, another ...

Do you know anything about the history of these games?
The following can be thought of as the same game though there are some differences between them, e.g., character names and how you obtain money.
The Cricklewood Incident - Dragon & Spectrum - Salamander Software
Pythonesque (or The Cricklewood Incident [1]) - C64 - Supersoft
Streets of London - C64 ...

My memory is very hazy on this, but I think the extra puzzles include the addition of the dark room and needing a tool to open a coffin.

Re: transylvania
In 1985 the game was rewritten in the Comprehend system and extra puzzles added. This applies to other platforms as well as for the C64.

Is this http://solutionarchive.com/game/id%2C20 ... nture.html the game? (There's no solution this time so don't get your hopes up, I'm just trying to identify the right game.)

Well done Alex. It's one of those games where you have to move/climb/look at/look up/look down/swim/etc. almost everywhere in order to find that one elusive place where something happens, so I salute your perseverance.

I assume http://solutionarchive.com/game/id%2C14 ... anadu.html is the same game?
In which case, according to the solution, "[There is] a secret bad ending Down and West of Aleph the Scared river in which a man named Porlock approaches and bores you to death!"

Re: technical question
Terri, the actual key that an emulator uses to represent 'Symbol Shift' may vary from emulator to emulator, but the most likely candidates would be the Ctrl, Shift, and Alt keys (and to complicate things further, it may be either the left or right hand key that is used). So I suggest just trying out ...

Re: technical question
I can't help with Speculator, but I guess that if the game gives you a code when you complete a part but no specific instructions to save the game then there is no need to save your game before tackling the next part.

Re: technical question
It would help if we knew which emulator you are using as the method may be emulator dependent.
