Re: New site - bug reports
This is best illustrated with an example. If you look at page http://solutionarchive.com/game/id,1203/ you will note that the various resources do not line up with their respective creators. This isn't the only page where this occurs, but it is the page that had me clicking on the wrong links when I ...

Re: Fixed games
There's still one game where I am not sure what I fixed :D The best I've managed is to find is a line stating that a flag was being compared against the wrong variable...
But, that's not why I am posting. I've just uploaded a fix for another game (A Message from Deep Space http://solutionarchive ...

Re: BBC Micro - The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings: Game One upd
Meantime, it's not really slowing us down - I actually don't think there's that much of a need to load a part into the game beforehand, from what we've seen so far. It's not even as though the main game allows you to check your SCORE.

Re: BBC Micro - The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings: Game One upd
I'm going on memory here, but I think that there is a pattern to the movement of the black riders. If you work out the pattern you should be able to avoid them.

Re: BBC Micro - The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings: Game One upd
Anyone got any suggestions on how to get the candle if you're not Frodo, without committing hobbiticide? I've tried everything I can think of - the mayor's office location with the dummy and the medallion make me think there might be some way to bluff past the guard or get rid of him, but I can't ...

Re: BBC Micro - The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings: Game One upd
I have finally got around to trying the remastered BBC version. It's a bit different from the C64 version I played in that the C64 version has two parts, but in this version those two parts are further subdivided into two sections each. This complicates matters as it appears that you cannot move ...

Suggestion: when uploading a fixed file, please include a brief textfile explaining what has been fixed.
Is this a comment for the admins, or information for everyone using the site? If the latter then where should we put this information, a text file included with the game in the zip file or ...

Re: Platform distinction
I'm certainly no expert on Spectrum, so I set up the 16K as a separate platform as I was under the impression that it was a completely different range of machines (like the ZX81). But perhaps I'm wrong?

Re: Platform distinction
What about all the various mainframes? I can see that on some game sites, mainframes are divided into a plethora of platforms? But for our purposes, isn't it more useful to place them all in one group? I'm not all that familiar with those computers. Well you already know my answer to that, but for ...

I'm waiting for some flash of inspiration on how best to deal with this. Perhaps someone else has some ideas on how to best tackle this problem.

Re: Penguin Software / Polarware
I'll try and make an example. Say that there used to be a company called OldNameSoft which published the following:
Adventure Game A
Adventure Game B
Adventure Game C
At a later date this company became NewNameWare and published:
Adventure Game C (again)
Adventure Game D
Adventure Game E ...

Re: Penguin Software / Polarware
The alternative, adding both companies as separate tags to the game, might indicate that the game was developed by two different companies, which isn't correct, of course.

Penguin Software / Polarware
As Penguin Software and Polarware are the same company all of their games should appear in the same company search. What is the best way to achieve this? Should all of their games be labelled as both Penguin Software and Polarware (1), or is it possible to have a redirection so that a search for ...

Re: Games everybody should know
I'm not too familiar with the modern scene so I'll stick to listing games from the classic era. This list is based partly on my experience but mostly on what I've read about the early history of text adventures, so the list is biased towards historical interest.

Re: What happens to the image comments?
I get it now, these are comments to help the admins rather than comments to explain or highlight anything interesting about the images to anyone viewing the images.
