Re: The Base

Well done. :) Yeah, I can see why Philip changed that in the Spectrum port.

Re: The Base

Will have another good go this evening.

I've done a quick vocab check. You can gauge what words are in the vocabulary by typing them in, in isolation, and seeing which response you get.

Verbs that are in the vocab: stick, insert, place, put, use
Nouns that are in the vocab: pass, photo, glue ...

Re: The Base

Urgh... Yes, I see what you mean. Nothing seems to work with the pass and the glue.

I'm pretty sure I must've got at least to part two of the CP/M version, as I reviewed it back in the day. Unfortunately there is no unPAWs for the CP/M version of the PAW, so I can't look at the code.

I'll keep ...

Re: The Base

Edit: Temporarily ignore the comments below... as I can't spot the Quilled version in any archives, I'm guessing that you're playing the CP/M PAWed version for Amstrad instead... in which case my comments will be redundant. I'll load up the game later and see if I can find a solution.

The Amstrad ...

Re: Saigon: The Final Days (Atari 400/800 & TRS-80)

isn't it clear yet ?
it became rather clearer for me.

I'm sorry but I'm finding your post quite difficult to parse.

From the catalogue pages, it appears that there is strong evidence to add Death Planet/Dog Star to the Other Ventures group.

Saigon seems to be repeatedly "grouped" with Jyym's ...

For reference, here is a link volume 3 issue 2 (Warning - large file size)
http://chiclassiccomp.org/docs/content/ ... al_3-2.pdf

As Scott says, the Saigon page is the same there aside from the fact the Apple ][ version is not listed.

Re: Saigon: The Final Days (Atari 400/800 & TRS-80)

That is a more useful catalogue. It's missing off the Internet Archive.

For reference, volume 3 issue 4 of the catalogue can be downloaded from here - http://www.trs-80.com/wordpress/catalogs-assorted-vendors/

This is the page in question...

Re: Saigon: The Final Days (Atari 400/800 & TRS-80)

Wonders never cease. He also lists the Questrobe series in the 50s.

The same web site lists the Jyym Pearson games under 'Other Ventures'. Saigon:The Final Days is unnumbered. Death Planet is not included. Zossed in Space is listed separately, even though it is Other Venture #0 in the Adventure ...

Well, Scott says Pirate's Isle was 14 and Buckaroo Banzai "41". :)

Re: Saigon: The Final Days (Atari 400/800 & TRS-80)

In a recent interview with Scott Adams in The Classic Adventurer issue 5, the interviewer said "A total of five games were released via "Other Ventures" - John Rausch's Classic Adventure and Jyym Pearson and Norman Sailer's Crowley Manor , Escape from Traam , San Fransisco 1906 and Saigon: The ...

Re: Saigon: The Final Days (Atari 400/800 & TRS-80)

I don't doubt anyone's recollection from back in the day, I'm just trying to track down primary sources (as I try to always do).

I've not yet seen any advertising that links it to the Other Ventures series. It's only that odd manual (linked earlier) that has a single reference, in the loading ...

Re: Saigon: The Final Days (Atari 400/800 & TRS-80)

And that "Tri-pack" entry is odd... because the box lists three games, as you'd expect... which are "other ventures" ones... but that manual on the page has four games!

And the title of the pack makes reference to Jyym rather than other ventures too.

But "Other Venture #5" was Dog Star Adventure, as seen by this box art...

We've already referenced that manual earlier in this thread, by the way. We're looking for other references aside from that. Which I can't yet find. Not saying it's not ...

Re: Saigon: The Final Days (Atari 400/800 & TRS-80)

It's most definitely one of the Other Venture series. I bought it for the Atari 400/800 back in the day (and solved it). From memory, it was also available for the Apple II. Not sure about other platforms. I must dig out my notes and map.

CoCo and TRS-80 too according to the catalogue listings ...

Re: Saigon: The Final Days (Atari 400/800 & TRS-80)

Yes.... I just wonder why MoCAGH hasn't placed it with the other Other Ventures games?

Looking through various AI catalogues, where Saigon is listed, and doing a magazine search, I can't find a single instance where it is listed in the Other Ventures series. At the point where it was released ...
