Re: Christmas themed games?

Thanks!... but are any of them worth my time or am I better off listening to Last Christmas on the radio? ;)
Well they don't look the most interesting adventures I've seen, but anything is better than listening to Last Christmas I guess

Nothing says Christmas quite like 80s tunes that ...

Re: You are the hero - Fighting Fantasy gamebooks

My copy of House of Hell contains that illustration, so I guess that it was removed in later editions.
Yes, the picture was removed in later editions because Puffin had received several complaints.

I don't know if anyone's seen the new documentary From Bedrooms to Billions (yet) - it charts the ...

Re: Genre Suggestions

- We now only have two relevant genres, (lost game) and (unreleased game)
That's certainly much clearer. Unfinished games like Pokol Angyala II are also considered unreleased I suppose?

I haven't updated the (unreleased) list yet, but quite a lot of them need to be moved to the (lost) list, as ...

Re: Genre Suggestions

I think just sticking with the genre lost for games not available, whether really lost or not known if they are actually created, is fine to prevent making things to complicated.
On the other hand maybe it is an idea to change it to another genre when it is 100% certain a game never has been ...

Re: Genre Suggestions

Though I think a lot of the, say, Roman and Greek games are set in that time period (some time around or before Christ) rather than now, so that wouldn't make them archaeological?
I agree games set in another time period are not archaeological. For a game to be in the archaeological genre I think ...

Re: Genre Suggestions

and "archaeology" would be a unnecessarily generic name - I can't recall any games that would fit this genre outside of the ones with the pyramidal setting, anyway

Well there are more games within the archaeological genre then the ones with the pyramidal setting. There are games concerning the ...

Re: You are the hero - Fighting Fantasy gamebooks

I don’t think the Warlock of Firetop mountain was too bad especially being the first gamebook they have written. As far as I remember I enjoyed playing it, but like Alastair it’s around 30 years ago I played that one for the last time. The only problem was that I played the Dutch version (the first ...

Re: You are the hero - Fighting Fantasy gamebooks

Did anyone ever read/play these as intended? Everybody I knew used to have the book open in a handful of places at any given time, so you could backtrack in case of instant death locations (which there were way too many of) I started off by playing it correctly, but after a while I tired of having ...

Re: You are the hero - Fighting Fantasy gamebooks

Indeed City of Thieves also was very good. When you finally managed to get out of the city alive you had to face Zanbar Bone in his deadly tower. Often learning you had forgotten some vital object and had to start all over again searching the place where you could obtain that object :).

You are the hero - Fighting Fantasy gamebooks

I don't know if there are many among you who are fan of the fighting fantasy gamebooks created by Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson. To me they were my introduction to playing adventure games (before I owned a computer) . The first one I played being Citadel of Chaos and I didn't stop until I ...
