Re: Jason Wells' port of The Mysterious Tower

This had me confused. The game is actually called 'Tower of Mystery' and was written by Gary McGath, not Jason Wells. The fixed game that I submitted a long time ago had been unzipped, but it shouldn't have been, so I've resubmitted it. The zip file contains an auto-booting Atari 8-bit disk image.

That's original...and amusing.

I was going to say the same thing, but Alastair beat me to it.

Re: Feature request: "needs maps?"

That's not a silly suggestion at all. I know that I've got a large backlog of maps and solutions that I haven't contributed yet, partially for lack of time and partially for lack of organisation on my part.

I would also like to see a Needs screen grab check box, as I can provide these fairly easily ...

Re: Another Classic Ported to TRS-80 MC-10

Just tried it and, yes, it does. You can finish the game in one move. That's a bug.

The SAY routine starts at line 990. At line 1010, it tests if the noun is "MUSH" and the location is not 19. If those conditions are true, it prints "Nothing happens", but it then falls through to line 1020 and ...

Re: Text Adventure Literacy Jam 2025

Thanks, guys, but it could just as easily have gone to any of the top 5 games, depending on the whim of the voting public.

Re: Text Adventure Literacy Jam 2025

The results of Text Adventure Literacy Jam 2025 are now available. The quality of the games was really high and the authors should all be proud of themselves. Every participant won a prize (except for the host, as he's not eligible for prizes). Cash prizes totalled US$400 and the 6th and 7th place ...

Re: Duplicate games & games that should be deleted

I think KQuest II is going to be hard to find. It's not on the SynTax web site and a Google search doesn't reveal much. It might be MIA.

Re: Duplicate games & games that should be deleted

These two games are the same: The title is always spelled KQUEST (upper case) in the game, but KQuest is used in Ambat Sasi Nair's solution.

Can someone merge these two and make sure that both solutions are included?

Re: Duplicate games & games that should be deleted

Garry, regarding the two E.T.s do you know if there is an "E.T. version" of Amos Newton - Incubo?
I don't believe so. 'Incubo' (which is Italian for 'Nightmare') was written much later (June 1987) after Epic 3000 had ceased publication. The last issue was December 1986.

Re: Another Classic Ported to TRS-80 MC-10

That's actually from Creative Computing (the magazine, not the publisher). It was reprinted in David Ahl's book a couple of years later. David Ahl was the publisher of Creative Computing and editor of the book.

Re: Text Adventure Literacy Jam 2025

That's the hope. However, beginners don't even know that this genre exists, so it's almost impossible to draw them in to try the games. If you know any beginners, let them know about the competition and encourage them to give it a go. If they strike a bad game, encourage them to try another one. Not ...
