Re: Egyptian Adventure - BBC Micro

Ah; you mean that river!

I've just this minute finished the adventure, and you're only a few commands from finishing it. As you don't have a boat, you need something to make a raft, you may previously have used this to cover a pit.

Once you have your raft, you need to jump on it and push off from ...

Re: Egyptian Adventure - BBC Micro

I've finally caught up - the adventure is very annoying - lots of mazes, illogical puzzles and unlisted restrictions (I hated carrying everything over the swamp and had to restart twice due to forgetting things from before the helicopter).

Yes, you need to save games at strategic points, just in ...

Re: Egyptian Adventure - BBC Micro

That's got me further - I'd tried PRAY, but not worship - there is a bit of "find the verb in this game".

So I'm stuck on two places:
The snow field: I can wear the racquets as snowshoes, but it still won't let me go anywhere in the snow (I may need some glasses to block the sun light).

Yes, you ...

Re: Egyptian Adventure - BBC Micro

Having had a quick go; I'm a bit stuck: I can get past the rocks and tie the rope to the ledge, but can't move around the snow field (snow, in Egypt).

You need the racquets and the string (to act as snow shoes)

I also can't seem to interact with the characters, get a loan (I know the wording is ...

Re: atahaulpa (BBC)

I might be able to help if I can get rid of that annoying final obstacle in Egyptian Adventure (see topic.) For some reason I can't concentrate as well on other adventures while an unfinished one is occupying my thoughts with some particularly difficult problem to sort out.

Egyptian Adventure - BBC Micro

I am almost at the end of this rather difficult adventure:

http://solutionarchive.com/game/id%2C2028/Egyptian+Adventure.html

But what appears to be the final obstacle (viz. escaping from the pyramid via the underground river) is proving pretty annoying to figure out. I either don't have the right ...

Re: aftermath Spectrum Computing 1985

Activate? How did you guess that? I would never have thought of it! You're a genius - or a walking thesaurus. Or both.

Trial and error and force of habit. It's a word that sometimes pops up in adventures. Since nothing else seemed to work I tried it, and it worked! I never discovered how to ...

Re: aftermath Spectrum Computing 1985

How do I light the torch? Even after I'd inserted the batteries, "Light Torch" "Use Torch" "Shine Torch" etc. didn't do anything.

Activate torch.

What do I do with the well? You can't go down it, drink from it or even examine it. I thought about throwing the contaminated chicken down it to ...

Re: aftermath Spectrum Computing 1985

Thanks Juan,

This is not just a tough puzzle. How in blazes are you supposed to know what to do?

Good that you finished.

Anyway, in the train. Now what do I do?

Trial and error! The description of the room gives a very faint clue ("You are in a very low , narrow etc.") of what you might want ...

Re: aftermath Spectrum Computing 1985

Can you be a bit more specific where the master key is? I've looked in all four locations (once you are in the chamber) and am still stuck.

There is one room at the power station that sticks out above the others. It has an obnoxious smell. This is a pretty tough puzzle because the description of ...

I have been able to open the steel door. You need the master key. It is found at the power station.

Re: aftermath Spectrum Computing 1985

OK - got the matches. Thanks. Used a match. Have you figured out what to do at the well? I won't give a hint unless you ask. Then, type HELP at the lorry. Remember to use the British word, not the American one there.

So, now on the train.

This is a problem. WAIT does not seem to be a verb you ...

Re: aftermath Spectrum Computing 1985

I think I have tried everything I could think of using the rock at the store. But since I tied it to the wire, maybe that's why things don't work.

I used it without the wire. Go back to an earlier saved game and use it without the wire.

So, the matches...are...where?

They are inside the store ...

Thanks in advance.
I found the matches.

Do you know how to turn off the torch?
