Re: RPGs... removal discussion & log

I've downloaded the book and read the listing. Sure it is more like an rpg, but it does have some objects from the chests you can find. There are a lot more games like this in the database (I've played several of them). It looks to me like a very crappy basic text adventure with a lot of rpg element...

Re: RPGs... removal discussion & log

In every taxonomy with more than a few variables there will always be exceptions, eccentricities, and nuances. Classification efforts according to clear-cut criteria are doomed by design. The only pragmatic thing is to do is exercise a bit of care with new additions and restraint with removals. I'd...

Re: RPGs... removal discussion & log

As Alastair mentions we did discuss this several times before. Most things have been said there I think. During the years some games have entered which are not 100% a classic text adventure. Not only games with a lot of rpg elements but also multiple choice games and joystick controlled games (eg Sp...

Re: "Temple Software" - Dian Crayne's Adventures

Well done finding out. I just finished The Hermit's Secret and noticed that nobody has published a solution for The Phantom's Revenge (which seems to be more difficult). Maybe I should give it a go, if there is any interest, while I still have an intuition of the author's mindset for puzzles. there...

Re: Recovered ZX Spectrum adventures

*Only part one of the game is finished. Given part two is incomplete, part one may not have been play-tested; so player beware. :) Part 1 is fine. I only noticed one small bug where you can't return to a certain location although the room description says you can, but that was no problem for solvin...

Wow, that was quick. It must be a small game.
I did not solve the game yet, I solved my problem of loading the game :)
Still playing.

Re: Recovered ZX Spectrum adventures

I solved it. I had to swap to 48k. It does not work in 128k mode.

Re: Alice and the March Hare - Tatung Einstein

Today I played the Memotech version and it seems the Einstein version is bugged. You should find the ring by typing LOOK CUP, but that does not work with the Einstein Version. Unfortunately it seems the Memotech version like the Einstein version also contains one bug. You don't get a point for dropp...

It just becomes a little frustrating when you're trying to research the origins of titles. :)

Re: Nuke

The reason this game and others are labelled The Guild is that at one moment these games where commercially sold by The Guild (Tony Collins) under the label of The Guild PD. I bought the two tapes containing most of these adventures (There were advertisements for these tapes but I don’t remember in ...

Re: Anttilis Mission

I haven't played the game, but according to the code you should take her to room 45 on your map "the ZX3's decontamination units" and push the button.

Re: 12 Lost Souls

I'm amazed at how much you've been able to sort out using a hex editor! A lot of practice (read years :) ) makes it easier to understand data files. In this case the easy thing was using Grackle I could check if I made the right adjustments. But even if the game wasn't programmed with GAC I always ...
