I found the XF25 file. The files in there do not all correspond to what it is that Juan has. I don't know what to do now. Terri, you don't need all the ROMs, ATARIXL.ROM and ATARIBAS.ROM will suffice for this game. Just remember to set Atari > Machine Type to XL/XE and to make sure there is no tick...

I seem to be in the same place as everyone else, though I have fixed the crossbow and loaded the bolt which no-one else has mentioned. I have also found the use for the lamp, it glows red in the presence of poisonous air.

No crashes as yet, but I had barely scratched the surface before I was shot by a guard. I did manage to get a "print out" of the vocabulary though, took a few tries as the text kept disappearing from the print out file. The trick, if you're using AppleWin, is to wait a few seconds after typing PRINT...

Sneeze is an Apple II program that allows you to view and manipulate files. Unfortunately I cannot recall where I obtained the (hard) disc image, although I can tell you it's written by Karl Bunker and is part of his "Bunkerware" collection, I believe that the last version is 2.2. Having looked at t...

I don't have Cider Press, but by using Sneeze and "printing" the Instructions to a text file and opening that text file in WordPad I found the following (as it is copy and pasted it may contain formatting codes, though I have added bold type where those formatting codes appear to suggest bold): Inma...

No Walkman or similar hiding at the back of a cupboard? After that, I suppose the most difficult thing would be finding a lead to connect the tape player to your computer.

Fairytale is a TRS-80 game isn't it? There are some instructions on how to convert TRS-80 tapes here. http://www.trs-80.com/trs80-info-convertingtapes.htm I suspect that any tape player will do and instead of "Goldwave" you could use "Audacity" http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ should you require a s...

4. When I type help, I get the hint about ET. While PHONE HOME didn't work, the response says that you know how to phone directory inquiries. Since I keep getting the same hint over and over regardless where I am, if this is a British-written game, should I type something specific here? In Canada w...

Terri,
for a less obscure clue, go back and look through the list of items I mentioned in my post dated Monday, 5th January 2009 23:24 (GMT) (it's on the second page).

Doreen,
thanks for the explanation, I'm pretty ignorant about zodiac signs.

I first need to know how to get the carpet (who actually does this) and whether it is necessary. The controller gets the carpet > GET CARPET < (one of those times when you think you've already done that, but it turns out you did it with the wrong character) when near the back door, and yes, it is n...

I've finished the game, but I'm left with two questions. 1. Does the Jack of Spades have any use? 2. What does the zig-zag pattern on the towel represent? Razors, the password is obtained from the visual clues that have popped up during the game, namely The zig-zag pattern > (Whatever the zig-zag pa...

We have waved the wand at the clearing and accessed the inside of the mansion as Pierre the housekeeper. Pierre? I accessed the mansion as Fifi - are you playing as a male or female controller? Anyway, back to the changing rooms. Dave, since this section isn't far from the beginning, with some judi...

Since ZED is the only one who can get into the lift, how does key get the key? I don't follow, you should have little problem entering the lift after rejoining ZED in the cellar. As the cassette implies a cryptic, is there a chance to play it somewhere, or is there a more obscure way of solving thi...

However, once that is done you are behind a computer screen and you need to type one word to continue, but I don't know what. Alastair, I assume that because you are back at the mansion you know what the word is. Can you tell me (in white)? You'll kick yourself, but you need to type in > ONLY ONE W...

Terri, once ZED has swung across, switch back to yourself and making sure that you are on the branch > CLIMB CABLE < (the old highlight this to see the answer technique) then > CLIMB MAGNET and UP < where you will find something useful. Razors, thanks for the tip about the cat. Have you managed to e...
