Re: Adventure Master
That's what I do, but ftp://8bitfiles.net seems to be offline or something. FileZilla tries to connect three times, but each time it says "Connection established, waiting for welcome message..." followed by an error message "Could not connect to server". Is there some secret that I'm unaware of? For...

Re: Z-code versions of Dorothy Millard's games incl. menus
I would like to be more in control than the IF Archive and I already have a Github page so I probably put them there. It would be nice if I knew how to make z5-files playable online, then I could make them playable on itch.io too. Most people use github for the source code, but you could put both s...

Re: Adventure Master
For anyone that's interested, I've played the three Adventure Master sample games, as well as 'Gh0st Busters: Basic Training' for the PC and submitted maps and solutions for all of those. I've also found another Atari 8-bit game by browsing the thumbnails at Atarimania. It's called 'The B.A.S.I.C. A...

Re: Z-code versions of Dorothy Millard's games incl. menus
Interesting. I had thought about doing something like this myself. If it was me, I'd skip the menus and jump straight into the game. Without seeing the content of each menu item, I think they could all be incorporated within the game itself. For example, 'About the Adventure' could be in the prologu...

Re: Adventure Master
No, not much there of relevance to us. They only deal with retro games for games consoles. The retail arm was sold off a few years ago, but the wholesale arm appears to be still operational. Some of the BRE Software Atari 8-bit and ST public domain disks have been archived, but they're pretty hard t...

Re: Adventure Master
I didn't expect this. BRE Software is still around. They have a web site at https://www.bresoftware.com/ Who is BRE Software? BRE Software was founded in 1986, initially selling computer software and supplies, BRE Software began buying and selling used video games in 1989 and has been a pioneer in t...

Re: Adventure Master
Mario Moeller (presumably a different person to Marius Müller) lived in Victoria, Australia at the time. His full contact details are given in a couple of his games, including Dracula's Castle. He appears to have been very friendly with Dorothy Millard. They collaborated on a couple of games and see...

Re: Adventure Master
Thanks for the link back to the previous thread. I had completely forgotten about that. I have actually ported the game to PunyInform and renamed it, so as not to cause any confusion with the original, as it's very different.

Re: Adventure Master
Ah, that's very interesting. I was the co-founder of ACE(NSW), although the other two "founders" quickly disappeared off the scene and left everything to me. However, we had a very good committee and everyone pulled their weight. I was the editor of the bimonthly newsletter ( Inside Info ) for the f...

Adventure Master
I have recently been checking and updating my collection of Atari 8-bit games. During this process, I came across the three sample games included with Adventure Master. 'Becca in Outlaw Cave' is an unfinished game written by Jean Craighead George. You can either follow the instructions in the user m...

Re: Jörg Walkowiak Adventure Books
There was already an entry for the plagiarised version of 'Gefahr im Kaufhaus', so I've updated that, together with map, solution, screen grabs and bug fixed versions of the Atari and Amstrad games. I haven't typed up the C64 version and don't feel particularly inspired to do so just at the moment. ...

Re: Jörg Walkowiak Adventure Books
It's impossible to finish the Amstrad version of Gefahr im Kaufhaus due to bugs. Someone commented (in private) that this seems to be Jörg Walkowiak's trademark. I've done a bug-fixed version. This is the version that I was getting tested by a native German speaker, as I don't speak German myself. A...

Re: Jörg Walkowiak Adventure Books
This is a topic close to my heart, as I've spent a lot of time with Jörg Walkowiak's games. I should warn you that they are very buggy and most of them won't run as printed in the various books. Some of them have large chunks of code missing. I think the first one I did was an English translation of...
