Re: New site name?

Greetings everyone. I've been letting ideas play around in the back of my head for while, and I just had an idea about the new name. The most important thing is to keep the Classic Adventures part, since the site doesn't do very much modern IF, or 3D RPGs, or other non-classic types of adventuring. ...

Re: Paul's 4k Adventure - coder's help needed (again)

Thanks, Dave. I learned something today. Some things are not truly "random". If random depends on something, then is it truly random? No, it's pseudo-random. Yes, really. That really is the technical term. Just about every old BASIC manual used to have a note in the section on random numbers, expla...

Re: aftermath Spectrum Computing 1985

How do I light the torch? Even after I'd inserted the batteries, "Light Torch" "Use Torch" "Shine Torch" etc. didn't do anything. Activate torch. Activate? How did you guess that? I would never have thought of it! You're a genius - or a walking thesaurus. Or both. What do I do with the well? You ca...

Re: aftermath Spectrum Computing 1985

Wow! You guys are good. I tried playing it yesterday, and didn't get anywhere. Any chance of some subtle hints or clues? (I know you'll be posting a walkthrough on the site, but I don't like walkthroughs because I just end up following them all the way to the end!) How do I light the torch? Even aft...

Sort of old-ish new member, or new-ish old member

Hello. I originally joined this forum a few years ago, but never really participated and soon left because I couldn't get the hang of emulators and technical things like that. (e.g. I didn't even know the difference between tape files and snapshot files, which the emulators' documentation never both...

Go to the 6th floor, open the window, go down, then open that window. You can do that for all floors, including the third. Yes, good point Terri. That's how I got to the top of the ladder to tie the rope to it. (Well, alright, I went out the 4th floor window, not 6th. But apart from that...) The bi...

Same here. I tied the rope to it before climbing down, and it only returned halfway up. But I can't PULL ROPE or CLIMB ROPE or anything like that to lower it the rest of the way. And if I let go of the rope, the ladder just springs back up again.

Timeline

Hi, I'm new. :D Hope it's is the right place to post this, but there's a sort of mistake in the walkthrough for Timeline from Gilsoft. It says the shortest possible solution is 52 moves; but you if you don't mind being in the dark, you can leave out "Get lamp", "Get match", "Light match" and "Light ...
