Surely Hadean Lands predates it by several years. Its Kickstarter campaign succeded in 2011 and although the game was delayed significantly several times, it was released in 2014.First crowd-funded text adventure ever.

Indeed, I did! In my view, a worthy successor to Zork Zero. At least gameplay-wise, the writing is not quite as sharp. The only thing is that I've grown quite tired of fantasy themes (which also makes me stay away from Thaumistry).
