Out of Date Emulator Links
CASA's links for the following emulators are out of date (the current address, if known, of the emulator's official site is given below each name or in the case of CaPriCe the official download site).
CCS64 v3.8
http://www.ccs64.com/
Apple Oasis v2.5
I have been unable to find the current site, if anyone knows the address then please post a link.
BeebEm v4.12
http://www.mkw.me.uk/beebem/index.html
CaPriCe v3.6.1
The linked site currently claims to be "Under Construction" but you can load the latest version (at present v4.2.0) from
http://sourceforge.net/projects/caprice32/

Re: Out of Date Emulator Links
Thanks for the reminder - I have updated the page accordingly. The page could probably do with an overhaul, as I've just kept updating version numbers instead of adding newer and better emulators (there's gotta be something better than Apple Oasis out there!). Input is welcome.
Re: Out of Date Emulator Links
VICE has a new website where you will find version 2.3 at http://vice-emu.sourceforge.net/
Also, I think Samwise has located the new official page for Apple II Oasis (now at version 2.6), this site's current link does little more than link back to the defunct Geocities site.

Re: Out of Date Emulator Links
I think I've said this before, but I really think the BBC Micro list needs updating. Whilst I'm at it, here's my proposals for the Electron and Archimedes (though it's hard to choose which is "better" between ArcEm and Arculator - that one might need closer inspection).
Cheers,
Sam.
BBC Microcomputer:
Best emulator: B-em [http://b-em.bbcmicro.com]
Best alternative: BeebEm for Windows [http://www.mkw.me.uk/beebem]
Acorn Electron:
Best emulator: Elkulator [http://elkulator.acornelectron.co.uk]
Best alternative: ElectrEm [http://electrem.emuunlim.com]
Acorn Archimedes:
Best alternative: Arculator [http://b-em.bbcmicro.com/arculator]
Best emulator: ArcEm [http://arcem.sourceforge.net]

Re: Out of Date Emulator Links
Thanks for the updates!
@Alastair: I had missed Sam's Apple II link - I've added it now. As for VICE, I thought the other site I linked to was their official site, but as far as I can tell there's no obvious mention of the new site. Excellent detective work
@Sam: I'll happily update the emulator suggestions. They're simply based on what I've come across myself, and as they've covered my adventuring needs I have simply gone the lazy route and updated as new versions have come out without looking for alternatives. In general I love getting input like this as there's no way I can keep track of all the platforms anyway. (For the record I made a brief search of my mail log and the forums and I didn't see any previous mention of these emulators, but I won't rule out the imminent failure of my memory ).
I'll update right away.

Re: Out of Date Emulator Links
Ok, all emulators have been added and the platforms have been sorted by named (as opposed to the previous sorting, which was more or less done in order of declining interest for yours truly )
Re: Out of Date Emulator Links
I may have invented it in my head as being part of the discussion around the beeb getting started guide. They're certainly mentioned in that guide. No matter. The Electron and Arc recommendations are All New, anyway.

Re. VICE. The old link was the official page but if you look at the bottom of the page you will see that they moved over to SourceForge. That said, it was only when someone on an OS/2 forum mentioned a new version of VICE was available and gave the new link that I realised that the page had moved.

Re: Out of Date Emulator Links
Yeah, but the weird bit is that viceteam.org just mentions that the source code development has moved to SourceForge. It doesn't say anything about the downloads. Oh well
Re: Out of Date Emulator Links
Oricutron at http://code.google.com/p/oriculator/ is an Oric emulator. There are MS-Windows (32-bit), MacOS X, AmigaOS 4.x, and MorphOS binaries available, plus the source code so it should be possible to compile it for other OSes. Therefore this may be a better Oric emulator than EuphORIC, especially for Windows users as the Windows version of EuphORIC appears to be a DOS program.

Re: Out of Date Emulator Links
I'll take a look. I've never been terribly happy with EuphOric anyway, so it's great to have an alternative. Now we just need a Dragon emu with a better GUI. And a better TRS-80 one. And...
Re: Out of Date Emulator Links
In case anyone has missed it, VICE is up to version 2.4.
There is a GTK+2 version of XRoar for those who want a menu bar.Gunness wrote:Now we just need a Dragon emu with a better GUI.

Thanks for the heads-up! I'll fix this asap.
