investigations

#1 Post by terri » Sun Dec 11, 2011 8:35 pm

I am trying to play this game (available at WoS).

However, I cannot get it to load.

Is there anyone who can download this game after the loading screen clears, and pm me the saved file?

I should be able (or rather I was once able) to play .szx, .z80, .sna files.

Thanks

I have a quick question, this game requires a Spectrum 128, you are attempting to load it on an emulated 128 aren't you? You can tell if you are loading it on a 48 (or a 128 running in 48 mode) by the appearance of an "out of memory" message beneath the loading picture.

No, it's set for 128. I don't get an "out of memory" message.

Here's a z80 snapshot taken just after the game loads, please tell me if it works.

Yes, it did.

Thanks, Alastair.

Crumb - first the Atari breakdown (which by the way, is still not working, as I do not know what is wrong), and now this. Yeech.

Did it take forever to load as well? Am I just not patient enough?

No, it took about the same time as any other game to speed load on the emulator I use.

Juan gives a pretty good step-by-step guide here: http://www.solutionarchive.com/phpBB3/v ... 2291#p2291

Terri, at last I found some time to revise my notes on investigations. This is the map as far as I made it, but it isn't finished yet.

This is a list of all the actions which are related to time. The numbers of the locations refer to the map. Unfortunately it seems there isn't a way to skip time fast. I hope these will help you to get on.

I just spotted an error on the map. The roof can be reached from the neat room and not from Emma's bedroom. I'll correct this on the final map.

Thanks, Alex

I haven't been playing this for some time. I think I began all over again (or at least I intended to do so), so we'll see how or whether I can manage to get enthused again.
