I have created a page for all my text adventures ported to TRS-80 MC-10 BASIC. You can click on them and play (most) of them in a Javascript emulator: http://faculty.cbu.ca/jgerrie/Home/jgam ... tures.html Enjoy!

Very nice job! I've added the link to our TRS-80 MC-10 description page. Hopefully people interested in that platform will find something they like :)

I remember this. It was published in 80 Micro if I remember rightly. It's not an adventure, but one of those awful choose your own adventure (CYOA) games. I've been trying to forget it for years, but it keeps rearing its ugly head in the form of unofficial ports for various machines. I think there was a sequel many years later called 'Assignment 46'. I don't want to know about that one either.

I'm not sure it's a "CYOA" game. Aren't those games (or books) where you make choices that lead to different possible alternate endings? This one is just an immensely simple "menu driven" adventure in Basic. You must figure out the single solution by figuring out the "right" menu selection for each scenario to get to the end and "Save the princess." Immensely simple, but perhaps a good game for a 5 or 6 year old.

That's exactly what a CYOA game is. It's multiple choice. Very boring. You can't do anything other than what the programmer has provided for in the menus. Hence no guess-the-verb scenarios, but lots of sudden death. No puzzles. No logical deduction. No satisfaction on completion. It's mindless entertainment for morons.

I have updated my Type-in programs pages, including the one with all the text adventures I have ported to, translated to English, or recoded in Micro Color Basic.

"A Hos Lovag" (Hero Knight) is one of the first text adventures programmed in Hungarian. Ported from the Commodore C16 to the MC-10 and translated to English. Source is here: https://github.com/jggames/trs80mc10/tr ... s/HosLovag

I see we have A Bátor Lovag for C64 in the database...
http://solutionarchive.com/game/id%2C62 ... %2C+A.html

Is that the same/similar game? Do we need an entry for the C16 game, as we don't appear to have it?

Oh... great job as usual with the port and translation!

Not sure if "A Bator Lovag" is the same game or not. I did my port from C16 code, and the title screen is definitely "A Hos Lovag".

In any case, my translation to English perhaps warrants its own distinct entry under the title "Hero Knight." I also have done a walkthrough of that version:

I have ported the text adventure made by 10 year old Jason Dyer back in the 1980s from GWBASIC to TRS-80 Micro Color BASIC. Changed the parser to standard two-word format. Added a little Vampire Bunny to the title screen. Shortened descriptions. Fits in 20K now.
Walkthrough's work, except you must use JUMP STREAM rather than JUMP ACROSS STREAM, etc.

Hey Jim, I just read your blog about 'A Hos Lovag' where you were bemoaning the lack of a TRS-80 version of Frank DaCosta's 'Mazies and Crazies'. This appears to be an RPG of some sort, so I'm not surprised that no one's bothered with it. However, if you're interested in his adventure 'Basements and Beasties', I've got the TRS-80 source code for that.
