#1 Post by Guido » Sat Dec 25, 2004 1:54 am

If there´s anyone who likes good Infocom puzzles and want to play this game I´m there. Puzzles a´la Infocom without end.´And if you think it´s too modern:you´re wrong. C´mon,at least sky-non,I know you´ll like it (if you´ve not already plazed it)

sounds familiar

This sounds familiar. Are you sure there is not a solution out there somewhere? What platform is it played on?

There is a solution available, I found one at http://www.wurb.com/if/game/451. I still may play this one someday - it sounds like fun.

Yo,there´s a solution

Ah,sadly there was a solution,I forgot. So it seems hard to find such great games without a solution. But how about playing it without peeking at the solution in between?

I just checked and I have it on my computer... so I have either played it, am playing it, or was gonna play it. :? Can't remember for sure {old brains}. Is that the one that is in .Z5 format... about a museum... starts at an entrance with a dragon and unicorn?? If it is then I have played it, but whether I finished it or not is another puzzle.

I will go back and play it from the beginning if you want help playing it. Just let me know. There is a big advantage to having worn out brains... you can just keep playing all these games over and over cause you can't remember what you did the first time through! haha

Solutions: The key is "Willpower". It doesn't matter if there IS a solution. What matters is.... are you strong enough not to download the solution?

Before the door!

Ok,if you DO it without a solution,I´ll do it too.I remember some kind of pumping device and that´s where´I got stuck. But I´ll have to check it before. It was so much fun getting points for seeing the next room!!
The pumping device was somewhere you have to crawl somehow to,but I´ll try it again .

Let the game begin!

Okay I will start playing it today. And I will try to remember to take good notes of what I do so I can offer help.

Now I will go make a new topic in the appropriate area for Mulldoon before other users remind us to follow the rules.

Terri - I got Muldoon's as a .Z5 game at that if-archieve place. Can look up the link if you want it.

Good games without solutions

Actually, there are quite a few. Here are some really good games which I haven't been able to find a solution for:

World's Apart: http://www.wurb.com/if/game/403

Yes, Another Game With A Dragon!: http://www.wurb.com/if/game/917

Winter Wonderland: http://www.wurb.com/if/game/604

Fallacy of Dawn: http://www.wurb.com/if/game/1640

Glowgrass: http://www.wurb.com/if/game/247

Shade: http://www.wurb.com/if/game/918

All of the above games, and the required interpreters, can be downloaded at http://IFGuide.ramsberg.net (just click "Choose platform" in the menu, pick your platform and scroll down to the game you want to play. Note: if you choose a pocket computer, all games may not be available.)

Regards,

/Fredrik

folks - there are plenty of games without solutions. Just ask us about our stack.

I will check some of these out. I did play Winter Wonderland, but I think I gave up somewhere in the ice floes. Modern game, this is. The author (she) won a prize I think, in one of the competitions, either for this game or another. She writes well, if I remember.

Here are the rewards for WW recorded at Baf's guide:

Finalist, Best Setting, Xyzzy Awards 1999
1st place, rec.arts.int-fiction competition 1999

(Finalist in XYZZY Awards isn't really a reward, but it's about the same as being a nominee for an Academy Award)

The nice thing about these more modern games, especially those entered in competitions, is that the have built-in hints. Which if it's a group-play can really be fun, as everyone interprets them differently.

While I am not likley to play Winter Wonderland again, and several of the games mentioned in the list are sci-fi games (which are not my cup of tea), I will give the dragon and worlds apart games at try. Will chat again when I am stuck.
